This is a position with WM Technologies, LLC and affiliate of SPX Enterprises, LLC, which manufactures and sells Weil-McLain branded products. Weil-McLain is a leading North American brand of hydronic comfort heating systems for residential, commercial, and institutional buildings since 1881.

How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)

SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As a Manufacturing Engineer you support objectives in terms of safety, quality, production, delivery, and cost reduction through continuous improvement of the plant manufacturing processes.You are responsible for supporting Manufacturing and carrying out assigned projects utilizing Manufacturing and Industrial Engineering techniques.

What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)

While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:

  1. Operations
  • Complete workplace improvements, methods, and layouts
  • Work closely with leadership and associates to determine feasibility of improvements/projects and provide data or information for accurate decisions
  • Support leadership, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and machine and workforce requirements to facilitate production processes

  1. Technical Support
  • Complete time studies and data development for rates, line balancing and cost estimates
  • Develop and implement standard work instructions
  • Analyze reports and data collected to determine and recommend changes in methods, tooling, and/or equipment to more fully utilize workforce and time to increase productivity, quality, or product value
  • Analyze and plan work force utilization, space requirements, workflow, designs layout of equipment, workspace for efficiency, safety and ergonomic improvements

3. Projects & Continuous Improvement

  • Coordinate a variety of projects from inception through completion and follow-up with minimal direction
  • Develop capital appropriation requests (E201) with supporting EVA calculations as well as project management leadership
  • Confer with vendors to determine product specifications and arranges for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards
  • Support and expand Lean culture and implementation throughout the plant
  • Participate in other projects as assigned that relate to the overall goals of the plant

What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)

We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:

Required Experience

  • 2-5 years in a manufacturing engineering role
  • Experience with designing and implementing machine/assembly cells and factory layouts
  • Project management experience with the ability to manage multiple projects varying in scope and complexity
  • Experience working with cross functional teams

Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to define problems, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Problems solving and data analysis skills (8D, 5Y, statistics, etc.)
  • Knowledge and experience in One-piece flow: balancing, pacing and improved through-put, Visual factory; KPIs, and pacing boards
  • Solid foundation/understanding of manufacturing financial metrics - working capital, Raw/WIP/FGI inventory, inventory turns, productivity, efficiency, order fill rate, on-time delivery, etc.
  • Must have Strong computer skills with excellent skills in Microsoft Office applications. Able to develop summary graphs, tables, pivot tables, and other reports using PowerPoint, Excel and Word
  • Knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma principles
  • Experience working in an Assembly and/or Sheet Metal Fabrication manufacturing environment.\
  • Demonstrates strong mathematical and analytical skills
  • Experience with design-for-manufacturing methods
  • Ability to direct, mentor, train, operators, and others in a team based environment
  • Understanding of the process of engineering revisions, engineering change notices, engineering deviations and the corresponding impact on manufacturing
  • Understanding of inventory control techniques and knowledge of implications of BOM accuracy, inventory accuracy, and material transactions/movement within the factory
  • Exhibits a strong ability to handle multiple demands with a sense of urgency, drive and energy required

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor Degree in Industrial, Mechanical or Manufacturing in Engineering or related field ( strongly preferred)

Travel & Working Environment

  • Minimal travel (<10%) that includes visits to other facilities, vendors and training
  • The employee frequently is required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
  • Manufacturing Environment frequently require use of foot, eye and ear protection when in production areas
