Job Description

What success looks like in this role:

* Responsible for supporting the functionality and efficiency of Unisys' MCP mainframe systems.

* Installing and configuring mainframe operating systems, including performing IPLs, installing IBM PTFs and Unisys ICs, configuring CICs/MQ, CMOS, TCPIP network configuring. Mainframe User Administration and operating systems monitoring. * Database installation and configuring in a mainframe environment.

* Storage installation and management including creation, expanding and monitoring. * Back-up and tape management both physical and virtual.

* Windows Server OS installation, TCPIP configuration, user admin, program installation and firewall basics. Perform remote installation of applications to users and servers.

* Responsible for user administration, monitoring of servers, and monitoring updates. * Perform daily checks on servers, analyze logs.

* Conduct incident investigation. Conduct advanced troubleshooting of incidents and provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems.

* Resolve well defined incidents using documented procedures.

* Execute complex changes, prepare and execute changes per implementation plans.

* Coordinate critical customer issues as well as new product and/or system implementations.

* Relay alerts and situation status information to both client and Unisys management.

* May prepare technical documentation and ensure that technical and customer documentation is clear, accurate and complete.

* May develop and conduct user training, technical training and orientation.

You will be successful in this role if you have:

3 years of experience in IBM Mainframe/AS400 and/or Unisys MCP mainframe systems administration

a. Installing mainframe operating systems.

b. Performing IPLs/Halt Loads.

c. Installed IBM PTFs and/or Unisys ICs.

d. Configuring mainframe operating systems to meet customer needs.

e. Configuring CICS/MQ (IBM) and/or COMS entities (Unisys) in a transactional environment

f. Configuring TCPIP networking in a mainframe environment.

g. Configuring and administration of a mainframe printing environment

  • Creating printer definitions.
  • Modifying printer definitions.
  • Delete printers.
  • Monitor print requests/jobs.

h. Mainframe user administration

  • Creating users.
  • Modifying users.
  • Deleting users.

i. Mainframe operating system monitoring

  • monitor a production mainframe operating system and act upon any alerts issued by it.

j. Scripting

  • Create 'JCL' (IBM) and or 'WFL' (Unisys) scripts/jobs.

k. Database

  • Installed and configured database software in a mainframe environment.
  • Update databases to a new database management system software level.
  • Database management.
  • Exposed to a database recovery/rollback in case
  • of a disaster or corruption resulting from a rogue or improperly coded program.

l. Storage

  • Create 'DASD's and/or disk pack families.
  • Expand 'DASD's and/or disk pack families.
  • Monitor 'DASD' and/or disk pack utilization.

m. Tape/Archive Management

  • Experience in managing tape libraries (physical or Virtual).

a. Windows Server OS installation

b. Windows TCPIP configuration

c. Windows systems administration

a. User administration

b. Program installations

c. Windows Firewall basics

d. Windows storage management

  • Create disk drives.
  • Expand disk drives.
  • Delete disk drives.

Microsoft Azure Environment (Preferred)

a. Experience/exposure to Microsoft Azure environment is a plus but not required.

b. Must be able to read and understand COBOL, ALGOL is a plus but not required.
