Who we are looking for:

We are currently looking for a Product Data Specialist to be based out of Harvey, IL. Reporting to the Senior Director Engineering and Business Development, this person will be responsible for leading efforts to create, update, standardize, maintain, and ensure the integrity of our product data utilized across the organization. This person will also be responsible for developing and supporting strategies to use this data effectively internally and externally.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree and 1-3 years of data management experience or technical customer service experience. Experience in lean manufacturing or business system-based company is a plus.

What you'll do:

  • Act as the data specialist for the Mechanical SBU North America branch plants.
  • Create, maintain, organize, and update product data for our internal systems and databases.
  • Develop and implement standard work for common product attributes, optimizing our databases.
  • Responsible for setup of new part numbers, updates and corrections to existing part numbers, product data, bills of materials, and spec approvals.
  • Develop and implement strategies to use our data to the fullest, supporting our customers, commercial efforts, marketing, internal systems, and more.
  • Gain proficient knowledge of our mechanical products and mill capabilities to aid in the creation and approval of new parts and product specifications.

What you'll bring:

  • 1-3 years of data management experience or technical customer service experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in data management, Industrial engineering, or similar technical degree preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills are necessary to ensure data and system integrity.
  • Basic technical acumen to understand our products with the ability to relate that to product data.
  • Ability to work with many systems, including Excel, Access, JDE, MAPICS, Salsify, Salesforce, Oracle and more.

Within 3 months, you'll:

  • Complete the Atkore immersion program.
  • Have a general understanding the various systems and databases across the business.
  • Develop relationships with Atkore stakeholders that help support our data needs.
  • Gain the ability to create and update JDE and MAPICS.
  • Have a basic understanding of our products, product lines and product attributes.

Within 6-months, you'll:

  • Assume the lead as the data specialist for the business.
  • Participate heavily with the setup and update of internal and external focused systems, requiring data updates.
  • Setup and update part numbers, internal and external systems, as needed.

Within 12-months, you'll:

  • Obtain a high level of understanding of our internal systems and data needs for the business.
  • Working closely with internal stakeholders for updates and improvements.
  • Provide guidance and expertise on how we can improve our own systems and practices.
  • Offer input and develop strategies to better use our data to serve our customers, external applications, and internal systems.
  • Work with sales team to ensure new product inquiries and operational capabilities align and customer requirement can be met.
