Description

The Building Engineering Market is seeking a Sustainable Building Certification Specialist to lead, scope and coordinate third-party rating system certification (i.e., LEED, Green Globes, Fitwel, etc.) projects across Gresham Smith's client portfolio. This role is a key element of Gresham Smith's growth strategy to expand our sustainability, resiliency, and climate change consultancy services to our clients.

Each year, Gresham Smith project team members impact millions of square feet of buildings, hundreds of miles of roadways, millions of gallons of water, and specification of countless materials. Our teams build and shape communities. As a Sustainable Building Certification Specialist you will guide project teams to account for future conditions while supporting the local community using fewer natural resources.

Responsibilities:

  • Third-party Certification: As an accredited professional, provide rating system guidance to the client and team. Facilitate integrating the rating system requirements into the project and completing the reporting documentation.
  • Proposal Writing: Contribute to developing the scope and fee proposals for new rating system administration projects.
  • Manage and Report Project Progress: As a key team member of the Sustainability and Resiliency Center, manage your assigned project tasks to meet scope, schedule and budget.
  • Technical Expertise: Serve as Gresham Smith's technical expert in two or more rating systems, including LEED. Keep up with changes in rating system requirements, assist with identifying rating system training opportunities for CEUs and attend rating system focused events such as USGBC's GreenBuild International Conference + Expo. Promote awareness of emerging trends with others in the Sustainability and Resiliency Center as well as across the firm. Help build expertise, tools, partnerships and processes to enable further integration into projects.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience doing Sustainability work
  • LEED AP with at least one specialty (e.g., LEED AP BD+C; LEED AP ID+C, etc.).
  • Passion, energy, and commitment to sustainability and resiliency in the built environment.
  • A team player with effective communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Preferably 5 or more years of experience doing Sustainability work.
  • Professional experience writing and developing reports, presentations and delivering workshops for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Professional experience providing advisory and practical support in embedding sustainability within projects and organizations.
  • Accreditation in one additional rating system program such as Green Globes, Fitwel, Living Building, Envision, WELL, SITES, BREEAM, etc., within the first three months of employment is encouraged.

All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, creed, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, veteran status, disability, or any other classification protected by law.
