STS Technical Services is hiring Sr. Mechanical Engineers in Ridgeland, South Carolina.

Job Summary:

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer specializing in heavy-duty trucks at TICO Manufacturing, you will be a key member of our engineering team, responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing mechanical systems and components for our next generation truck models. Leveraging your expertise in heavy-duty vehicle engineering, you will play a critical role in enhancing performance, reliability, and efficiency while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and industry best practices. The Senior Mechanical Engineer reports to the Director of Engineering.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Truck Design and Development: Lead the design and development of mechanical systems and components for heavyduty trucks, including chassis, suspension, drivetrain, and auxiliary systems, from concept to production.
  • Engineering Analysis and Simulation: Conduct detailed engineering analysis, simulations, and testing to evaluate the performance, durability, and safety of truck components and systems under various operating conditions.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that truck designs and specifications comply with relevant regulatory standards, industry guidelines, and customer requirements, including emissions regulations, safety standards, and vehicle performance criteria.
  • Prototype Testing and Validation: Oversee the prototyping, testing, and validation of truck components and subsystems, collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify and address performance issues and design challenges.
  • Technical Leadership: Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers, guiding them in the application of engineering principles, methodologies, and tools for heavy-duty truck design and development.
  • Collaboration and Integration: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including vehicle dynamics engineers, electrical engineers, and manufacturing specialists, to integrate mechanical systems with other vehicle subsystems and ensure seamless vehicle integration.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives in truck design processes, methodologies, and tools, seeking opportunities to enhance performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness while reducing time-to-market.
Experience and Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a focus on heavy-duty trucks or commercial vehicles.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA) and engineering simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS, Adams).
  • Strong understanding of heavy-duty truck systems and components, including chassis design, suspension systems, powertrain integration, and vehicle dynamics.
  • Experience with regulatory requirements and standards applicable to heavy-duty trucks (e.g., FMVSS, EPA emissions regulations, NHTSA safety standards).
  • Proven track record of leading successful engineering projects from concept to production in the heavy-duty truck industry.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, analytical abilities, and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment
Working Conditions:
  • This position primarily operates in an office environment but may also require work in warehouse settings.
  • Travel may be required to visit manufacturing facilities, suppliers, or customer sites as necessary to support quality initiatives and resolve issues.
  • PPE is required per company procedures and includes safety shoes, safety glasses and safety vest.
Physical Requirements:
  • Walking, sitting, standing, crouching, and lifting up to 50lbs.
