Job Description

About the Role: We are looking for an Industrial Hygienist to act as an EH&S Specialist with Chemistry Expertise on our Environmental Health & Safety team. This associate will be working actively with the Industrial Hygiene Core team, to systematically conduct IH assessments, in order to continue to successfully invent, make and sell products containing Fluoromaterials. In this role you will apply Industrial Hygiene expertise throughout the enterprise to a variety of situations from onsite process topics to broad strategic needs.

This position will be locatedin Elkton, Maryland, with the possibility of a hybrid remote work arrangement, depending upon the responsibilities of the role and business needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify and assess potential exposure to chemicals and other stressors
  • Determine appropriate written monitoring and sampling strategies
  • Perform qualitative assessments using control banding, exposure banding tools
  • Partner with Gores toxicology team on assessing hazard characteristics
  • Perform industrial hygiene field measurements and evaluations
  • Prepare accurate and complete technical reports of survey finding, and providing recommendations for corrective actions
  • Advise/provide technical guidance regarding IH issues and effectively address Industrial Hygiene standards while meeting business needs
  • Provide technical expertise to support risk assessments, including selection of appropriate control strategies
  • Evaluate relevant obligations (legal and other) through gap assessments and the auditing process
  • Partner with teams to identify, assess, manage and control EH&S operational hazards/risks, including EH&S risks during the process of innovation/new product development

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Hygiene, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related field.
  • Chemistry background/experience and understanding of how chemicals interact
  • Minimum of 5 years of work experience as an Industrial Hygienist
  • Experience in executing qualitative and quantitative assessments
  • Proven problem solving skills, including incident investigation and root cause analysis
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and communicate monitoring and sampling strategies
  • Demonstrated ability to manage conflict and tension for positive outcomes
  • Ability to understand complex interdependent systems and the ability to define problems and frame solutions
  • Ability to communicate in a clear concise, and timely manner
  • Valid driver license, ability to travel up to 5% of the time

Desired Qualifications:

  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
  • Experience in using Velocity EHS IH module
  • Experience in exposure modeling

This role requires pre-hire medical clearance by Gore which may include testing to assess visual acuity and/or the ability to wear specific safety equipment as required during the performance of the role.
