Pay Range
$142,050 - $182,388 Annually
Please note that the pay range information is a general guideline only. Many factors are taken into consideration when setting starting pay including education, experience, the external labor market, and internal equity.


Job Description

We have an opening for a Facility General Area Manager. You will provide advanced technical expertise, management, and leadership for the safe and effective operation and maintenance of LLNL's common areas. A common area is defined as four feet outside the footprint of a building and includes, but not limited to, all general open areas for property owned and operated by LLNL, paved areas, landscaped areas, site-wide outdoors' lighting, and parking areas (permanent and temporary). This position is in the Infrastructure Engineering and Operations Department.

You will

  • Manage all common areas associated with Real Property and Equipment. Develop and implement complex maintenance plans to ensure common areas support mission requirements.
  • Analyze complex data and use this information to improve availability, readiness, and functionality of general areas.
  • Develop, review, and maintain written reports, Memorandums of Understandings (MOUs), and Memorandums of Agreements (MOAs).
  • Consult with I&O, LLNL organizations, and customers to prioritize investments and develop maintenance strategies in support of the long-term goals for continuous improvement of common areas and their capabilities.
  • Collaborate with internal organizations on projects and activities impacting the general areas by developing implementation, communication, and restoration plans to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Develop criteria and performance specifications; identify and recommend modifications or upgrades; and determine the resource investments required to ensure the common areas support the mission requirements.
  • Develop common area strategic plans, operation policies and procedures.
  • Conduct safety compliance audits, work observations, and inspections and review results with management. This includes developing recommendations for correction (and prevention of recurrence) of non-compliance findings and identifying necessary follow-up actions to ensure compliance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical discipline (or the equivalent combination of education and significant related experience) with significant related experience in engineering, facilities management, maintenance, construction, or operations.
  • Advanced experience in managing facility structures or system modifications, renovations, or construction projects.
  • Significant technical knowledge of maintenance and operation of building systems at a commercial or industrial complex.
  • Significant experience and advanced knowledge of systems required to comply with safety policies, requirements, procedures, and practices.
  • Advanced conceptual, analytical, and complex problem-solving skills in a professional environment where facilities and infrastructure management are essential to the organization's mission.
  • Significant experience leading, mentoring, evaluating, directing, and motivating staff to achieve organizational objectives and goals.Advanced knowledge of leadership, management, and organizational development principles.
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills, as well as facilitation and collaboration skills necessary to effectively communicate, present, explain, and advise senior management and external sponsors.
  • Advanced knowledge of maintenance/construction technologies, equipment, and materials used for construction and maintenance for replacement of conventional facility systems.
  • Experience in standard tools and computer software for presentations, job tracking, scheduling, and planning work activities.

Qualifications We Desire

  • Experience or certification in civil construction associated with asphalt, concrete, grading, landscaping, etc.
  • Knowledge of or certification in Project Management.
  • Knowledge and development project plans including scope, safety, schedule, quality, and costs.
