This position is a Cat Certified Dealer Instructor (CDI) that works within the machine sales division and partners with sales representatives and customers to train and certify end-user operators. This position is part of the Equipment Training Solutions team. CIAP (Caterpillar Instructor Accreditation Program) and certification in 3 or more product families must be completed. Other tasks include continuous training, internal training, machine demonstrations, delivery of machines, safety training, confirming machine preparation prior to delivery, and delivering excellent customer experiences.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

• Contributes to a positive work environment and promotes the vision, mission, and values of BMC (Blanchard Machinery Company).
• Completes all job responsibilities in a safe manner and promotes a safe and healthy work environment. Acknowledges and follows all company safety policies.
• Attend safety meetings and be current on all required safety training. Utilize PPE as required. Attend OSHA, MSHA, and CPR training as necessary.
• Attend a minimum of 1 annual training session: CDI Conference, Spring Training, NPI Updates, or machine/application training provided by Caterpillar. Training may include operator training, safety, technology, and demonstrations of company products.
• Prepare for demonstrations, training sessions, and customer visits, including competitive research.
• Certify customer operators if the CDI is certified in the machine family and industry segment.
• Assist customers and sales representatives in conducting efficiency and productivity studies when required.
• Assist sales representatives in the selection of proper equipment for customer requirements. Prepare and complete needed paperwork for machine records.
• Schedule, prepare & conduct Operating Technique Seminars by providing in-depth information to Owners and Operators on machine specifics, operating best practices, application techniques, grading techniques, machine safety, etc. (By use of machine or machine simulator.)
• Provide new product delivery orientation and/or training at the customer's site. When possible, pre-check equipment prior to demonstration for operation, appearance, and features to highlight.
• Stay current with new product introductions, machine technology, and features and benefits on products and demonstrate the value to customers. Communicate the benefit of using Caterpillar products versus competitive offerings, while conveying the Blanchard Dealership value.
• Complete Product Delivery Service Record; provide a post demonstration report detailing strengths and weaknesses of product to management. Schedule in cooperation with sales representatives and sales management operator training classes and events as required.
• Candidate will be required to maintain a CDI (Certified Dealer Instructor) Level with a minimum of three machine certifications.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required, Bachelor's degree preferred.
• 5+ years of Heavy Equipment Operator experience is preferred.
• Certified Caterpillar Machine Operator. Knowledge and skills demonstrating Cat machine specifications, safety procedures, operator training, technology, and preventative maintenance.
• High degree of interpersonal skills with the ability to make connections with diverse customers and internal team members.
• Achieves customer satisfaction and loyalty, while representing the Cat brand and living out the values of BMC.
• Mechanical aptitude and the ability to discuss components, capabilities, and product features with large groups of people.
• Must possess the personal discipline to establish the proper image as a representative of Blanchard with the ability to professionally work with customers, vendors, peers and co-workers as well as the ability to develop strong, long-term relationships.
• Strong verbal, non-verbal and written communication and listening skills.
• A team player capable of harmonious collaboration as well as the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Organizational and time management skills required. Must have the ability to set and keep priorities and professionally handle the stress associated with dealing with a fast-paced industry and deadlines.

Working Conditions

• The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
• Required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to injury and/or hazardous materials.
• Position requires employee to work on-site at designated location as well as travel to customer sites.
