Overview

This position is a Cat Certified Dealer Operator (CDO) that works within the machine sales division. The CDO's primary functions are to partner with sales representatives and customers in machine deliveries, product demonstrations, and sales support activities. This position is part of the Equipment Training Solutions team. CDOs are certified in machine operation only and must be certified in 1-2 product families. CIAP (Caterpillar Instructor Accreditation Program) completion is not required.

Responsibilities

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

  • Contributes to a positive work environment and promotes the vision, mission, and values of BMC (Blanchard Machinery Company).
  • Completes all job responsibilities in a safe manner and promotes a safe and healthy work environment. Acknowledges and follows all company safety policies.
  • Attend safety meetings and be current on all required safety training. Utilize PPE as required. Attend OSHA, MSHA, and CPR training as necessary.
  • Attend certification prep classes, certifications sessions, and can attend CDI conferences and annual events. Training may include operator training, safety, technology, and demonstrations of company products.
  • Prepare for machine deliveries, product demonstrations, and sales support activities, including competitive research.
  • Assist in internal and customer training on machine specifics, operating best practices, application techniques, technology, machine safety, etc. by use of machine or machine simulator. (Not certifying customer operators)
  • Complete digital form on internal and external visits.
  • Provide new product delivery orientation and/or training at the customer's site. When possible, pre-check equipment prior to demonstration for operation, appearance, and features to highlight.
  • Stay current with new product introductions, machine technology, and features and benefits on products and demonstrate the value to customers. Communicate the benefit of using Caterpillar products versus competitive offerings, while conveying the Blanchard Dealership value.
  • Candidate will be required to maintain a CDO (Certified Dealer Operator) Level with a minimum of 1-2 machine family certifications.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required, Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of Heavy Equipment Operator experience is preferred.
  • Certified Caterpillar Machine Operator. Knowledge and skills demonstrating Cat machine specifications, safety procedures, operator training, technology, and preventative maintenance.
  • High degree of interpersonal skills with the ability to make connections with diverse customers and internal team members.
  • Achieves customer satisfaction and loyalty, while representing the Cat brand and living out the values of BMC.
  • Mechanical aptitude and the ability to discuss components, capabilities, and product features with large groups of people.
  • Must possess the personal discipline to establish the proper image as a representative of Blanchard with the ability to professionally work with customers, vendors, peers and co-workers as well as the ability to develop strong, long-term relationships.
  • Strong verbal, non-verbal and written communication and listening skills.
  • A team player capable of harmonious collaboration as well as the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Organizational and time management skills required. Must have the ability to set and keep priorities and professionally handle the stress associated with dealing with a fast-paced industry and deadlines.
  • Strong customer service mindset and commitment to service excellence.

Working Conditions

  • The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
  • Required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to injury and/or hazardous materials.
  • Position requires employee to work on-site at designated location as well as travel to customer sites.
  • Job requires standing, stooping, squatting, pushing, pulling, twisting, turning, lifting, seeing, reading, and writing to complete job responsibilities.
  • Use of computer and other forms of technology to complete job responsibilities.
