Job Description

Job Summary

The Wastewater Supervisor controls water flows and processes through plant and biological equipment/systems. Performs tests, maintenance, etc. to ensure proper operation of all wastewater related equipment.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Ensure proper operation of the entire wastewater system.
  • Ensure proper operation of plant skimmer.
  • Manages performance of individuals to ensure that procedures are being held to highest standards.
  • Monitor chemical inventory and usage throughout wastewater treatment processes.
  • Proper operation of DAF.
  • Maintain all valves and flow meters at pump stations daily.
  • Monitors all wastewater equipment.
  • Assists maintenance with projects or work in area of responsibility.
  • Complete all records and testing required by the EPA, State and Darling Ingredients.
  • Oversee all operations pertaining to wastewater quality.
  • Manage the wastewater system compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with all Public Potable Water system requirements
  • All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of previous work experience with wastewater systems.
  • Minimum of 1 year of supervisory experience, preferably in wastewater operations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Self-starter; self-motivated.
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision.
  • Good with math, computer, and oral communication skills.
  • Must be willing to obtain wastewater certifications and update as necessary.

Physical Demands

  • Frequently lifts up to 10 lbs.
  • Frequent walking, standing, stooping, bending, climbing, pulling, pushing and crawling.

Work Environment

  • Job functions performed outside in all types of weather; hot and humid in plant.
  • In and around and working with moving parts and equipment.
