Summary
The Special Projects Manager will support new and existing Mission Services initiatives and will collaborate with partners across our community and internal team members across the organization to achieve special project goals. This role assists the Vice President of Mission Services by supporting research and implementation strategies for mission innovation. Duties will include funding research, best practice research, coordination of project committees, staff training, grant writing support, and data tracking. The Special Projects Manager may also be responsible for managing initial pilot programs including management of stakeholder input, outreach, implementation, and after-action review.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Research

* Conducts research for existing and emerging services to identify best practices, key stakeholders, and projected needed resources.
* Conducts ongoing review of potential funding opportunities that align with current and emerging mission services. Conducts research necessary to support grant applications.
Communication
* In collaboration with Marketing, develops communication plans for new initiatives as well as ensuring all staffing and training is in place for launch or expansion of services.
* Distributes all special projects communication in an accurate, timely and thorough manner.
* Develops and delivers initiative-specific training to team members and external customers.
Administrative Support
* Supports board ad-hoc committees including scheduling of meetings, preparing, and distributing meeting minutes, setting meeting agendas, and preparing necessary background reports for committee members.
* Follows up on assigned action items from ad-hoc committees as assigned by the Vice President of Mission Services.
* Monitors and measures program effectiveness utilizing metrics and scorecards.
* Establishes credibility with funders through accurate and on-time reporting.
* Supports implementation and training for case management system and other divisional software tools.
Community Engagement
* Develops and maintains quality working relationships with a variety of businesses and community partners in the assigned areas of focus.
* Develops program partnerships and memoranda of agreement regarding funding and supportive services for new initiatives.
* Represents the organization by promoting new initiatives through meetings with partners and through community outreach events.
* Attends relevant community service agency gatherings and group coalitions as assigned.
Program Management
* Oversees initial pilot programs or services including management of stakeholder input, outreach, implementation, and after-action review.
* Provides staff backup and support for program delivery as needed.
* Performs other job-related tasks and duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities
* Oversees team members assigned to services while in pilot stage.

Qualifications
* Enthusiasm for the mission of the organization.
* Proven record of administrative support, research, and community engagement.
* Five years of experience managing stakeholder relationships in a diverse array of initiatives.
* Ability to research from various sources (including internet); gather and analyze data as it relates to program development, program implementation, program management, training requirements, compliance guidelines, etc.
* Experience writing reports and correspondence for a variety of audiences including funders, leadership, program partners and community agencies, and team members.
* Ability to multi-task effectively; set priorities; be able to adjust to frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events; be flexible and/or adaptable as work requirements change.
* Ability to meet deadlines; be self-directed and able to work autonomously/independently as needed.
* Thrives in a dynamic, fast-moving environment.
* Works effectively across the organization to build and maintain working relationships and establish processes and systems that facilitate excellence in service delivery.
* Multi-cultural sensitivity: ability to demonstrate a sensitivity and awareness of diversities in people and cultures.
* Strong time management skills, with focus on the ability to handle multiple project needs simultaneously.
* Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
* High attention to detail and accuracy.
* Valid driver's license and automobile insurance acceptable to Goodwill's liability insurance carrier.
* Frequent travel throughout Palmetto Goodwill's 18-county service area.

Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree from accredited college/university, with emphasis in Business, English, Psychology, Social Studies, or related field. Minimum of five (5) years' professional experience in roles involving engagement with a variety of stakeholders combined with administrative support. A combination of experience and education will be considered. Previous experience working with nonprofit organizations and/or grant writing experience highly preferred.

* Occasionally required to: reach with arms; lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Work Environment
Work is usually performed in an office setting. Frequent travel and outside work may be required. The employee may occasionally be exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
