The role reports to the Production Supervisor and is located in Florence, South Carolina. As a Manufacturing/Quality Tester, you will be conducting testing and checking activities responsibilities. The tests or checks are conducted by following procedures and instructions defined in manuals and test scripts. You will also assemble, operate, maintain equipment, and maintain test data records. Be able to read and interpret the technical diagrams and instructions related to our various electrification products of electro-mechanical products, circuit breakers, relays, switchgear, capacitors, micro-chips, resistors, transformers, indicators, wires and switches, and printed circuit boards and other products in accordance with product specification sheets, drawings and methods, schedules, and customer needs.

Your responsibilities

  • Executing the assigned work according to specified workflows and in accordance with ABB standard processes and safety guidelines
  • Physical pre-testing activities for the products to ensure the quality of the product or manufacturing process
  • Assist the team in preforming all factory acceptance testing checks
  • Conduct various tests or experiments which may require minor modifications in test setups or procedures
  • Obtain, compile and record test data including formulas, procedures, charts, and graphs. Analyze data to check reasonableness
  • Read and interpret engineering configuration and wiring drawings
  • Provide assistance and guidance to less experienced specialists, as required. Assist more experienced specialists performing complex assignments
  • Maintain records such as reports and logs
  • Perform duties in a manner compliant with prevailing quality procedures and policies
  • Coordinate work with other groups to ensure meeting commitments
  • Conducting shop floor operation in compliance with health and safety guidelines, and reporting any non-compliance
  • Perform duties in accordance with the Quality, Safety and Environmental Management Systems and required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Assistance in identifying and initiating process, method, or drawing updates/changes
  • Participates in process improvements and cost savings ideas
  • Follow standard practices and procedures in resolving basic and complex problems. Decisions are usually based on established precedents and may affect quality and accuracy to a degree. Errors may result in lost time and rework
Your background

  • High School degree plus 2 or more years of related experience in basic technical skills. Alternatively, a special combination of education and experience and/or demonstrated accomplishments. Capable of reading and interpreting Engineering configuration and wiring drawings
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret Engineering configuration and wiring drawings
  • Requires ability to determine actions within limits defined by test equipment practices and procedures, and to select, reduce and summarize pertinent test data
  • Ability to inspect, troubleshoot, recommend repair and modifications
  • Work with minimal supervision
  • Calibrate tools, records and analyze data
  • Must be able to read, speak and write English
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
