Responsibilities

Lighthouse Behavioral Health Hospital looking for a Behavioral Interventionist Tech who has a passion for providing the best care in the safest environment for all patients and staff. The Security Tech must be able to: serve in a lead tech capacity, possess a calm demeanor that is not easily angered by verbal abuse, protect and care for patients individually and in groups, assist with controlling disturbances and assist other staff in de-escalating volatile situations-when a patient becomes difficult verbally or physically abusive, relate to all individuals regardless of their age or level of functioning, inventory patients' belongings and search for contraband when required, demonstrate surveillance skills and are detailed oriented, demonstrate knowledge of acute psych and substance abuse treatment (preferred), provide work experience as a security guard or a relevant position (preferred), demonstrate a thorough knowledge of de-escalation techniques, physical agility to manage patients, observe and respond to behavior by talking or restraining patients and making security checks on assigned shifts.


In addition, the Security Tech will be required to enforce fire, safety and security regulations, assists with patient related activities and provide training in regards to security procedures to other staff members, oversee patient related activities and be required to observe and record behavior. TheSecurity Tech will assist with assuring that patients follow rules and will observe patients for potentially violent or socially destructive behavior-having the ability to intervene, if required, following hospital policies and procedures. The employee may also be required to travel with other staff members when transporting patients.

Qualifications

Primary responsibilities:

  • Patrol assigned areas
  • Provide assistance to patients, visitors, and colleagues
  • Assist with various unit responsibilities (unit searches, safety secure patients, monitor visiting hours, etc.)
  • Check for unsafe conditions, hazards, unlocked doors, security violations, blocked ingress/egress and unauthorized persons
  • Perform monthly preventative maintenance and required equipment checks as needed
  • Respond to all codes and alarms
  • Coordinate with local police, fire and emergency personnel as needed
  • Respond to medical emergency calls including slips and falls in the facility or on the grounds
  • Perform scheduled and random checks of designated areas throughout the facility to check for any security breaches
  • Assist the maintenance staff in securing the area during a maintenance emergency
  • Collaborate with other members of the team
  • Maintain professional and effective relationship with the local police and fire departments

REQUIREMENTS

High school diploma or equivalent-preferred

Previous security or relevant work experience-preferred

CPR and CPI-required (Training provided)
