Instrumentation & Controls Engineer III

We're looking for a full-time, staff I&C Engineer III, to join our Day & Zimmermann team located hybrid in either Greenville, SC or Charlotte, NC or fully Remote.

As the Instrumentation & Controls Engineer III, here's the work you'll do:
General Description includes Instrumentation & Control Systems design and analysis of an assigned scope of work in a project including specific complex deliverables such as DCS & PLC systems. Work includes, among other things, conceptual studies, cost and planning studies, layouts, design calculations, specification development and supervising vendor packages. Can effectively communicate technical solutions and concepts to other engineers and non-engineers. Mentor junior Instrumentation & Controls Engineers and depending on size and complexity of scope of work may be assigned as the Instrumentation & Control Systems Engineering Lead for a project. Maintain and promote a focus on end product whether engineering, fabrication or construction. Ensure effective communications among other engineering disciplines. Ensure effective management of change. Assumes responsibility for cost, schedule, quantity and budget control.

  • Provide technical guidance for the pertinent portions of the assigned projects. Provide necessary calculations and project overview of other Engineers and Designers.
  • Develop and monitor project scopes and schedules for applicable discipline and team of Engineers and Designers. Identify changes in scope / schedule and their impact, as they occur.
  • Provide coordination of design efforts with other disciplines and client personnel.
  • Monitor and ensure design work and documents are correct, consistent with applicable codes, logically presented and constructible.
  • When responsible for work, stamps required project documents as a PE, and/or ensures all licensing regulations are followed for Instrumentation & Controls.
This role is for you if you have these skills:
  • Well versed in design practices for Instrumentation & Controls.
  • Familiar with DCS/PLC codes and standards for domestic and/or international.
  • Ability to work in Revit, AutoCAD, and Bluebeam. Proficient in the use of industry standard flow device software and manufacturer control sizing programs.
  • Strong organizational skills and effective verbal/written communication skills for execution of multiple projects. Experience in effective project execution and project procedures. Ability to supervise and lead the completion of projects (ability to effectively manage project discipline schedule, staffing levels and budget).
  • Experience in the development of the design basis for Capital Project Cost Estimates.
And if you have these qualifications:
  • BS Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering required; Degree must be ABET accredited.
  • 8+ years of detail instrumentation & control systems engineering experience.
  • Professional Engineer registration preferred, with ability to obtain PE registration in other states via exam or comity.
  • US Citizenship
  • Great attitude and team player.
  • Successful completion of background screening process.

In compliance with this state's pay transparency laws, the salary range for this role is $96,160 - $144,240. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. (The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements).
