The Paralegal assists the Company's Legal and Compliance Departments with a variety of administrative, legal, and compliance projects and tasks. The Paralegal will provide efficient and effective support to the Legal and Compliance teams while gaining experience and a working knowledge of the legal and regulatory issues relevant to the consumer finance industry and to publicly traded companies.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare legal documents such as memoranda, pleadings, settlement agreements, affidavits, board of directors materials, and related binders for review, approval, and use by attorneys
  • Investigate facts and borrower loan documents in connection with pending or potential litigation and/or regulatory examinations
  • Prepare responses to subpoenas
  • Perform clerical duties, such as scheduling appointments, providing information to callers, composing and typing routine correspondence, and reading and routing incoming emails and calls
  • Maintain and organize litigation files and board materials
  • Maintain and organize SEC filings, including coordination of signatures and monitoring SEC document retention compliance
  • Ensure proper indexing, uploading, and filing of original documents, including contracts, settlement agreements, executive agreements, board resolutions, and other company documents
  • Proofread all work, including reading documents for content and context
  • Prepare and maintain temporary/permanent office files
  • Prepare mailings and shipments, such as UPS and FedEx shipments
  • Schedule meetings and conference rooms; coordinate meals/refreshments for meetings
  • Make travel arrangements, including transportation, automobile rentals, and hotel reservations; prepare and submit proper expense reports to the Accounting Department
  • Perform other duties required based upon the unique practice of the attorney, such as, but not limited to, administrative work, practice development initiatives, and business projects and responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications

  • Four-year college degree
  • Paralegal certificate
  • Must pass pre-employment screenings.
