Job Summary

Directs and supervises functions and activities in a nursing unit; implements and interprets policies, standards, and regulations for personnel, patients and families.

Accountabilities

  • Directs activities related to the accomplishment of department objectives; assists in establishing quality standards and assesses all day-to-day activities to ensure continuous quality improvement; provides suggestions to management to improve overall quality in day-to-day operations.\u00A0 Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, continuous quality improvement programs, safety, environmental and infection control standards.\u00A0 Is knowledgeable of and adheres to Age Appropriate Standards of Care for the patient populations(s) served. - 25%

  • Develops and manages human resources in accordance with professional standards and the philosophy, policies, procedures of Prisma Health.\u00A0 Ensures the orientation and development of staff; enhances professional growth and development through such activities as professional affiliations.\u00A0\u2013 10%

  • Supervises employees directly including selection, training, performance appraisal and work allocation;\u00A0 Maintains personnel records; responsible for submitting payroll/time and attendance for nursing staff. - 10%

  • Maintains cost control in operation by monitoring departmental FTE budgets; helps control expenditures. - 5

  • Responsible for daily nursing staff schedule and provider assigned space in clinic.\u00A0 Works directly with Resident Coordinator, Master Scheduler, Medical Director, and others as needed to ensure accuracy of schedules and appropriate assignment of space and clinical resources. - 20%

  • Serves as role model for other employees by performance and actions; applies management counseling skills in supervision and motivation of personnel; maintains and promotes good interpersonal relationships. - 5%

  • Orders clinical equipment and oversees ordering of supplies and medications.\u00A0 \u2013 5%

  • Maintains current knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety standards and other relevant areas to ensure appropriate documentation, recording and reporting of work-related illnesses and injuries for employees. - 5%

  • Assists Clinical Manager in planning and conducting short and long term projects;\u00A0 assists in identifying patient/client needs; assists in developing new programs and services to meet those needs. - 5%

  • Participation in educational programs, inservice training, workshops and required meetings; review of current literature. - 5%

  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. \u2013 5%

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities

Job has direct and/or indirect supervision of team members that may include final budget authority, hire/termination authority, performance appraisal responsibility and disciplinary authority. Job will be considered a member of management staff at Prisma Health or affiliate and will have direct reports.

Minimum Requirements

  • Associates Degree - Nursing

  • 3 Years -Nursing required. Experience in Family Medicine preferred

Required Certifications, Registrations, Licenses

  • Registered Nurse in South Carolina

Knowledge, Skills or Abilities

  • Basic Computer Skills

  • Knowledge of office equipment (fax/copier)

  • Word processing, data entry, and mathematical skills

  • Bachelor's Degree - Preferred
