POSITION OVERVIEW AND PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):

Project Overview:

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) facility at Charleston, SC requires comprehensive base operating support services for the Charleston Federal Law Enforcement Training Center and its ancillary support facilities. This includes providing student support services, with such activities as the operation and cleaning of dormitories, operation of the dining facility, and training support services of various types (such as providing range masters, role players for practical exercises, computer laboratory support, equipment issues, bus transportation, etc.). Facility-based services include activities such as janitorial services, waste removal, facility and grounds maintenance, office equipment, and furniture cleaning and movement.

Position Overview:

The Food Service Manager will be responsible for the management of the Dining Hall and Food Service at the FLETC facility in North Charleston, SC, this includes a full range of management duties, including, but not limited to, planning, scheduling, and quality control. Ensuring there is an adequate staff of personnel with the necessary food management expertise to ensure the performance of the work in accordance with sound and efficient management practices. The Food Service Manager must maintain an adequate workforce to complete work in accordance with thetime and quality standards specified in the contract. The qualified food service manager will provide an ongoing employee training program to ensure the highest standards of efficiency and sanitation. This training program shall include Food Sanitation, Food Safety, and Personal Hygiene.

THIS POSITION IS CONTINGENT UPON CONTRACT AWARD. ALUTIIQ WILL ACCEPT APPLICATIONS FROM INCUMBENTS CURRENTLY HOLDING THE SAME POSITION.

Primary/Major Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

  • Responsible for the management of the Dining Hall and Food Service Ensuring facilities and work areas are in clean and safe operating condition.
  • Provide an ongoing employee training program to ensure the highest standards of efficiency and sanitation. This training program shall include Food Sanitation, Food Safety, and Personal Hygiene.
  • Conduct all kitchen and dining room setup and closing procedures to ensure it is in operating order.
  • Ensure all staff are properly clocked in and out and that all positions are properly staffed.
  • Monitor hourly employees to ensure proper uniforms and that the meal policy is being followed.
  • Oversee setup of all necessary kitchen equipment for daily use.
  • Ensure the daily menu is properly rotated.
  • Directly supervise and support cashiers including providing drawers and assisting with daily audits, as well as making safe deposits.
  • Constantly monitor food quality and food leftovers for storage and saving for re-use.
  • During service, monitor for spills, cup racks on the floor, lines staying stocked, customer flow, and dish room flow, to ensure all areas have enough staff support.
  • Responsible for pulling reports from POS systems and submitting reports to administrators.
  • Direct the team members throughout the service.

This opportunity is for a POTENTIAL CONTRACT award and is contingent upon the contract being awarded. Consideration for a potential contract may require a signed letter of intent. If the contract is awarded, another position posting will be available on the Company Careers portal.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Must possess at least 5 years of experience (within the past 10 years) supervising personnel and working in the food services profession.
  • Experience in managing, planning, setting up, outfitting, and budgeting food services is mandatory.
  • Shall have a valid Food Service Handling Certificate, which is to remain current through the life of the contract.
  • Shall have proficiency in oral and written communication in English.
  • Personnel shall speak, read, and comprehend English to the extent that they can perform the contract requirements and comply with installation emergency procedures.
