Make a difference as a Senior Construction Engineering Technician

As a Senior Engineering Technician you will make a difference with every field test and observation you conduct. Your meticulous attention to detail will ensure that construction materials meet industry standards, contributing to the success of projects from start to finish.

While working outside may not be for everyone, however witnessing the completion of various projects and being able to say, "I helped build that," is truly rewarding. You will have the opportunity to mentor and train less experienced staff, while collaborating closely with management, contractors, and clients to ensure project success.


Are you a good fit for this Senior Construction Engineering Technician Role?

To thrive as a Senior Engineering Technician at S&ME, Inc., you must possess a High School diploma/GED and a minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in conducting construction testing and inspections on materials like soil, concrete, masonry, and asphalt. You should hold two or more active certifications in American Concrete Institute (ACI), NICET, and International Code Council (ICC) or DOT certifications related to field and laboratory testing. Proficiency in using tools and software, such as Metafield, is essential for documenting field activities and testing results. Your commitment to safety, attention to detail, and dedication to ensuring compliance with industry standards will set you up for success in this role.

You are willing and able to perform the physical demands of this position with the use of Company-provided Personal Protective Equipment such as:

  • Working outdoors the majority of the time in varying weather conditions
  • Walking over rough and uneven terrain
  • Standing up to 8 hours a day, up to 12 hours on occasion
  • Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50lbs, (field/laboratory samples and equipment)
  • Maneuver field equipment safely, such as a loaded wheelbarrow, on uneven ground and around active construction sites
  • Traveling out-of-town (typically overnight) for assignments as necessary
  • Working outside of normal business hours when necessary
