What would you do as a Construction Materials Staff Engineer?

As a Construction Materials Staff Engineer you'll be at the forefront of ensuring construction project compliance with industry standards and project specifications. Your role will involve comprehensive testing of various materials, from soil to concrete, using your knowledge of ASTM, AASHTO, DOT, and project requirements.

By reviewing plans and communicating effectively with project stakeholders, you will play a critical role in documenting field activities and testing results. Leveraging tools like Metafield for data management, you'll collaborate closely with Construction Services and Geotechnical Project Management teams to drive project success. Engaging with local engineering and construction communities through professional organizations will further expand your impact while contributing to business development initiatives will showcase your expertise in the field.


Are you a good fit for this Construction Materials Staff Engineer Role?

To excel as a Construction Materials Staff Engineer at S&ME, Inc., candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. While 0-2 years of experience in field and laboratory testing is preferred, a willingness to learn and grow within the role is essential. Effective communication skills in English, both verbal and written, are crucial for engaging with project stakeholders and documenting findings accurately. Applicants should be open to obtaining International Code Council (ICC), American Concrete Institute (ACI), and/or Department of Transportation (DOT) certifications in the fields of aggregate, asphalt, soil, reinforced concrete and masonry certifications, demonstrating a commitment to professional development.

Additionally, having or working towards an Engineering Intern certification (EIT) within 12 months will showcase a dedication to advancing in the field.
