Job Summary
The EP Tecnologist utilizing highly specialized knowledge, provides direct and indirect patient care facilitating electrophysiology procedures through room preparation, patient preparation. Assists physicians with procedures in scrubbing, monitoring and circulating roles. Demonstrates knowledge of intracardiac electrical signals and 3-D mapping systems.This position is bonus eligible, follow this for details.
Accountabilities
Accomplishes monitoring duties.\u00A0 Understands mechanics of arrhythmias.\u00A0 Understands mapping techniques for ablation of arrhythmias.\u00A0 Monitors patient\u2019s electrocardiogram and reports rhythm disturbances to physician.\u00A0 Monitor and record intracardiac and intravascular pressures. - 40%
Accomplishes scrub duties.\u00A0 Practices sterile techniques.\u00A0 Ensures tasks are accomplished efficiently and accurately.\u00A0 Assists and anticipates needs of physician. - 25%
Prepares procedure room using infection control guidelines.\u00A0 Ensures radiation protection techniques are followed.\u00A0 Performs accurate set-up of EP equipment.\u00A0 Ensures proper use of RF generator and stimulator.\u00A0 Accurately places electrodes, defibrillator and appropriate ground\u00A0 pads on patient for monitoring.\u00A0 Checks prep for accuracy.\u00A0 Checks patient chart for correct permit.\u00A0 Performs quality equipment checks daily. - 15%
Assists with recovery duties.\u00A0 Obtains hemostasis as needed.\u00A0 Safely returns patients to room or nursing unit after procedure when necessary.\u00A0 Checks for pedal pulse and bleeding.\u00A0 Ensures that patient is comfortable. Ensures other team members are informed of patient status as needed. - 5%
Orders and restocks supplies as needed.\u00A0 Retrieves supplies from Central Supply and Material Services as needed.\u00A0 Compares case load and on-hand supplies and obtains needed supplies.\u00A0 Ensures instruments are cleaned and prepared for Central Supply per department Policy and Infection Control. - 5%
Ensures appropriate surveillance of assigned patients; identifies barriers related to specific care issues and seeks assistance as appropriate, thereby maintaining quality and patient safety. - 5%
Maintains professional licensure and takes personal accountability for maintaining competency through education and professional activities. - 5%
For individuals credentialed as RCIS, the following job duties from the RCIS Scope of Practice may be included after competency demonstrated to physician:\u00A0 Venous access, vascular sheath exchange, suturing of implantable cardiac device pocket, and manipulation of intracardiac catheters with physician supervision
Supervisory/Management Responsibility
This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive.
Minimum Requirements
Successful completion of a health sciences program
1 year Cath Lab experience
Required Certifications/Registrations/Licenses
R-ARRT(Radiology registry with the American Registry of Radiology Technologists) or RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist)

In Lieu Of The Above Minimum Requirements
Military or certificate program with 2 years cardiovascular experience may be considered. Eligible for RCIS with completion within 1 year.
Team members employed in this 11/8/2020 are grandfathered under prior educational and experience requirements.
