Job Summary

Plans and implements specific treatment programs for individual patients according to the principles and practices of occupational therapy. Collaborates with an interdisciplinary treatment team. Provides direction and supervision to Registered Occupational Therapy Assistants and Occupational Therapy students in the area of patient care. Added responsibility for program and staff development is required. An advanced level of clinical and interpersonal skills are required.

Accountabilities

  • Performs appropriate initial occupational therapy evaluations and re-evaluations and designs an occupational therapy plan of care

    -\u00A0 Demonstrates advanced knowledge of diagnosis / conditions seen in occupational therapy

    -\u00A0 Selects, performs and interprets the results of OT examinations of neurological,

    \u00A0\u00A0 musculoskeletal and developmental systems

    -\u00A0 Accurately performs and interprets standardized evaluations as determined by

    \u00A0\u00A0 appropriateness of client

    -\u00A0 Identifies actual or potential problems that would impact the OT treatment regimen as well

    \u00A0\u00A0 as the overall plan of care (such as cognitive deficits, family situations, etc.)

    -\u00A0 Establishes specific functional and measurable treatment goals based on results of the

    \u00A0\u00A0 initial assessment and feedback from patient and family

    -\u00A0 Designs the treatment plan appropriate for the patient's age, educational level, cultural

    \u00A0\u00A0 background

    -\u00A0 Designs the plan for intervention that is coordinated and integrated with other services the

    \u00A0\u00A0 individual is receiving

    -\u00A0 Revises the treatment plan as appropriate
  • Plans, implements, and evaluates a specific and comprehensive treatment plan and participates in patient discharge preparations

    -\u00A0 Demonstrates good working knowledge of various Occupational Therapy techniques,

    \u00A0\u00A0 flexibility and creativity in the implementation of these therapy techniques

    -\u00A0 Interacts regularly with others involved in patient's care to incorporate an interdisciplinary

    \u00A0\u00A0 treatment approach for coordinated, quality care

    -\u00A0 Demonstrates awareness and use of proper safety measures regarding the patients and

    \u00A0\u00A0 others in the home and self

    -\u00A0 Reassesses patient status in response to treatment and goal achievement, redefines

    \u00A0\u00A0 problems and modifies goals and treatment as indicated by the interdisciplinary treatment

    \u00A0\u00A0 plan

    -\u00A0 Provides information regarding follow-up services which may include a referral to other

    \u00A0\u00A0 community resources

    -\u00A0 Provides any written instruction for home exercises or care as indicated prior to discharge

    -\u00A0 Teaches, counsels and communicates with patients, their families and others to achieve

    \u00A0\u00A0 the desired goals of occupational therapy\u00A0\u00A0\u00A0\u00A0
  • Actively participates in patient and family education process

    -\u00A0 Provides education and training to patients, families and caregivers regarding diagnoses,

    \u00A0\u00A0 progress and long-term functional outcomes

    -\u00A0 Supports and provides educational material to patients / families for support groups as well

    \u00A0\u00A0 as community resources

    -\u00A0 Attends multidisciplinary patient conferences

    -\u00A0 Promotes health care in the community.
  • Complies with departmental policies for documentation

    -\u00A0 Documents all aspects of assessment, planning, treatment and discharge in the computer

    \u00A0\u00A0 in a timely manner

    -\u00A0 Daily treatment records are noted in the computer on a daily basis and are clear and

    \u00A0\u00A0 professional in their terminology

    -\u00A0 Patient conference notes are succinct and contain information regarding progress to date

    \u00A0\u00A0 and focus on further treatment

    -\u00A0 Documentation is in compliance with the chart review audit components
  • Productivity

    -\u00A0 Meets the team / department productivity standards

    -\u00A0 Assists with additional coverage when caseload permits and when multiple caseloads

    \u00A0\u00A0 may be modified easily to permit one person to assist with coverage in another area

    -\u00A0 Complies with established standards of efficient patient scheduling to maintain

    \u00A0\u00A0 appropriate levels of productivity

    -\u00A0 Accepts and examines performance feedback and incorporates this into their conduct

    -\u00A0 Long-term and short-term goals are appropriate, achievable and measurable within a

    \u00A0\u00A0 specific time frame
  • Department and Team Responsibilities

    -\u00A0 Attends staff meetings, team meetings and mandatory in services as scheduled

    -\u00A0 Completes mandatory training annually and in a timely manner

    -\u00A0 Completes PPD testing procedures by the end of the employee's birth month

    -\u00A0 Completes assignments in a timely and thorough manner

    -\u00A0 Assists with care and maintenance of departmental equipment and supplies

    -\u00A0 Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality

    \u00A0\u00A0 assurance programs, safety, environmental and infection control standards

    -\u00A0 Performs other related duties as assigned or requested

    - \u00A0Demonstrates willingness to orient and assist and is respectful of the rights of other team

    \u00A0\u00A0 members

    -\u00A0 Provides supervision to Occupational Therapy Assistants and Occupational Therapy

    \u00A0\u00A0 students as assigned.

    -\u00A0 Assumes an additional team / department responsibility.

This is a non-management job that report to a supervisor, manager, director or executive.

Minimum Requirements

Education - Bachelor's Degree Occupational Therapy

Experience - 1 year Occupational Therapy

Required Certifications/Registrations/Licenses

Licensure by S.C. Board of Occupational Therapy (Lawson Code CLOT)

Valid South Carolina \u00A0Driver's license (Lawson Code LSCD)

Other Required Skills and Experience
