The OT Engineer II position reports to the E&I Engineering Manager. With minimal supervision, this position performs professional work in maintaining the control systems for the manufacturing process for Paper, Recycling, and Adhesives.

It has responsibility to provide day to day technical support for the operation's controls, execute control system audits to maximize system productivity, and execute small control system capital projects. This position will work closely with the Mill Maintenance team, and the Engineering team to solve mill control issues.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Works safely in a production environment.
  • Works/troubleshoots with DCS, QCS, control ethernet networks, Coordinated drive systems, Variable Frequency Drives, Process Instruments - Pressure, Temperature, Consistency, Level, and Flow to keep the control systems running.
  • Typical Systems include Schneider DCS, Voith QCS, Siemens APACS DCS, Rosemount DeltaV DCS, ABB 800xA DCS, Allen Bradley AC drives, and Rockwell Contrologix/CompactLogix PLC's
  • Control System Software Backups
  • Control Loop Tuning
  • Preventive Maintenance tasks associated with the control systems.
  • Verification of critical spare parts availability for control systems
  • Audits of control system performance - x-y plots of control loops to find failing control devices
  • Troubleshooting/Repair of control system
  • Creation of new loop sheets/electrical elementary diagrams to support new projects
  • Commissioning of new control systems/loops
  • Finds remedies for problems under pressure of time.
  • Responsible for the design and/or assisting in the design of controls to support production equipment for small capital projects.
  • Fully responsible for meeting objectives within time and budget constraints on those projects under his/her leadership.


Required Skills:

  • DCS/PLC/QCS Troubleshooting/Maintenance skills - ability to use the control system software to troubleshoot system issues.
  • Instrumentation/Control Valve familiarity
  • Ability to utilize loop sheets, and electrical elementary diagrams for troubleshooting.
  • Ability to use AutoCad to create Loop Sheets, and Electrical Elementaries for small control projects
  • Ability to create control, and HMI software applications to support small capital projects.
  • Ability to tune/evaluate control loop performance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required inElectrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering, or a 2 year degree for qualified candidates.
  • 5+ years of experience

This role is a progression role, based on experience.
