GENERAL SUMMARY
The Red Valve Plant Controller is a key member of the Gastonia, NC plant leadership team, contributing to all areas of plant management and providing strong financial leadership by being a business partner to the VP of Operations and Supply Chain.

In addition to accommodating the local accounting needs at the Gastonia site, the Plant Controller supports the overall accounting function for Red Valve as an integral member of the accounting staff located in Pittsburgh, PA. This includes ownership of monthly closing procedures. This position will present the company’s performance in accurate financial forecasts and statements that facilitate decision-making. The position reports to the Senior Finance Manager with a dotted line to the Vice President of Operations and Supply Chain at the plant in Gastonia

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)
Accounting and Financial Reporting
  • Lead monthly closing procedures, and provide clear and concise summary of results to finance and plant leaders.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements.
  • Prepare journal entries for inventory, fixed assets, labor allocation, and any other plant-related activity.
  • Complete additional monthly accounting entries and provide support for the month-end close as needed by the Senior Finance Manager and Finance Team.
  • Budget/forecast income statements, balance sheets, and statements of cash flow.
  • Serve as a backup Senior Finance Manager and other accounting duties.
  • Assist in other financial analysis and reporting.
Operations Business Partner
  • Provide financial and operational reports required for comprehensive decision support to the VP of Operations and Supply Chain, including detailed analysis and presentation of monthly actual financial results.
  • Responsible for the development of accurate revenue forecasts based on analysis of orders released to production and planned shipments.
  • Understand the full cycle production process and provide value-added recommendations to management to enhance profitability through efficiency, quality, productivity, and/or cost initiatives.
  • Responsible for standard cost and inventory valuation, and compliance with the cost and inventory procedures at the Gastonia, NC manufacturing site.
  • Develop and maintain reporting for product line profitability.
Project Management / Technical Accounting
  • Harmonize Red Valve accounting processes in accordance with DeZURIK Finance policy, and implement new accounting standards as directed.
  • Complete ongoing assessments of company accounting positions under the current revenue recognition standard.
  • Lead and implement process/systems changes.  Identify opportunities for improvement and drive related process changes.\
  • Provide key support for the company’s transition to NetSuite.
  • Support the annual audit and tax processes. Serve as a key contact for the audit and tax teams.
  • Coordinate with corporate finance teams the annual renewals of insurance policies.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Advanced Degree or CPA / CMA designation is preferred.
  • 3 - 7 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing setting and NetSuite preferred.

  • Computer Skills: High proficiency and advanced capabilities in Excel.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Physical demands are typical of an office position including extended periods of sitting, and extensive use of a personal computer and telephone.
  • Position requires movement throughout the office to resolve work problems and facilitate processes.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Normal manufacturing and office environment.  When working occasionally in some shop areas, personal protection equipment (PPE) will be recommended and/or required (safety shoes, safety glasses w/side shields, hearing protection, face shield, gloves, apron and boots).  Stress may result from workload and meeting schedules.  Must have the ability to support extended business hours to meet customer business needs.
