Remanufacturing and Overhaul Technician

Essential:

1. Assembly and/or disassembly of MTU and other engines, systems and components per specification
2. Inspect and evaluate components for defects such as breakage and excessive wear based on specifications and drawings
3. Recommend core acceptance or rejection based on inspection and evaluation using published core acceptance criteria
4. Inspect, operate, and test products to validate functionality and conformance to specifications
5. Analyze and interpret test results obtained from inspections to diagnose equipment capabilities and next steps
6. Position and align components for assembly, manually or using hoists
7. Create and implement new processes, fixturing and tooling as needed
8. Inspect, rework, repair, and replace damaged parts or assemblies, following guidance based on component condition using machines, power tools and hand tools
9. Collect, read, and interpret disassembly and assembly blueprints and specification manuals, as well as plan disassembly, assembly or building operations
10. Verify and document conformance of parts to blueprints, using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauges, and micrometers
11. Operate forklifts, overhead and jib cranes safely to maneuver parts or equipment as needed
12. Perform appropriate SAP transactions for tracking and process compliance
13. Support Engineering and/or Quality to submit deviation request for out of scope repairs
14. Support operation of variety of mechanical and CNC machinery including mills and lathes, but not limited to, Blanchard rotary surface grinder, balancing machine (turbos), crack testing equipment, Merlin injector tester and valve grinder
15. Perform special projects as needed and maintain flexibility on the job by providing support in other related areas
16. Maintain clean and orderly work areas and comply with safety regulations to help ensure a safe working environment
17. Promote a compliance culture in area of responsibility and live the letter and the spirit of the Rolls-Royce Code of Conduct

Qualifications:

Required:

1. High School Diploma/GED and two years field service, mechanical or electrical troubleshooting experience
2. Advanced operational ability and skill, as demonstrated by acquiring the points associated with Skilled Based Pay Competency Level 3
3. Skilled use of mechanical and electrical hand tools
4. Skilled use of measurement and testing tools for mechanical and electrical systems
5. Knowledge in technical language and engineering terminology
6. Knowledge in the practical principles of electronics, physics, hydraulics and pneumatics
7. Basic factory representation, customer service and interpersonal skills
8. Basic organizational, planning and follow up skills
9. Basic analytical and creative problem-solving skills
10. Good oral and written communication skills
11. Good knowledge in the physical properties of fuels, coolants, lubricants and oils
12. Ability to lift, push, pull weights in the 20-60 lbs. range
13. Ability to use a PC and MS Office Suite
14. Ability to work weekend shift and overtime as required. This position is scheduled for the 1st shift from 6:00am to 4:30pm, Monday through Thursday. (Schedule may rotate periodically)

Preferred:

1. Experience with MTU engines and electronics
2. Experience in a large engine service industry
3. Experience in operating fork lift trucks
4. Experience in rigging of weights up to 5 tons
5. Experience in report and service letter writing
6. Ability to work any shift and overtime as required
