What You'll Do

As the Sr. VP of Commercial, you will lead all aspects of the organization's sales, marketing and product management needs in order to deliver targeted growth and sustainability in volume, relationships and profitability. The SVP Commercial will lead and deliver the strategy of Dyno Nobel Americas (DNA) as the industry leader of value-added sales, technical services and solutions in the Americas (and expanding) markets. You will direct the Americas Marketing & Product Management function with specific responsibility for Marketing strategy, Product Management, JV & Independent Distributor (Channel) Management & Sales, Integrated Business Planning (IBP) (Product Management planning owner), International Product Sales, Competitor Sales, and Marketing Branding & Communications. Duties will include:

  • Be seen in the organization as a true safety leader who visibly displays strong alignment with the IPL and DNA Zero Harm strategies
  • Drive profitability and growth through sales, technology and providing solutions to customers
  • Direct the Americas Marketing & Product Management function
  • Develop and successfully execute the DNA sales strategy in order to deliver business goals
  • Work to achieve effective and sustainable working relationships with customers to optimize sales of Dyno Nobel products and services
  • Develop and communicate vision and strategy for the National Sales team
  • Manage the alignment of sales, technology and product application with all major customers
  • Identify value creation opportunities and value extraction
    • Implement product and service mix solutions and value propositions to the customer
  • Lead team providing mentorship, coaching, development and accountability using open and honest conversations, metrics, goals, and development plans. Passionately drive the DNA talent action plan.
  • Ensure all activities within owned functional responsibility complies with the relevant IPL DOA (Delegation of Authority) and policies
  • Represent Dyno Nobel Americas at customer events, trade shows and arrange product demonstrations in order to build customer base
  • Proactively seek out knowledge trends within the industry, maintain current marketing database and be aware of competitor activity
  • Identify and prioritize target accounts, develop account penetration strategies, identify product line opportunities, and identify training requirements to close sales
  • Develop professional relationships with both internal and external customers to successfully meet objectives and add value for customers
  • Understand and enhance service requirements to continually improve customer profitability
  • Build and enhance the Company's image and reputation as industry leader in everything we do
  • Other Duties as assigned

What We're Looking For:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mining, Engineering, or Business preferred with advanced degree preferred
  • Experience in Mining, Minerals, Chemicals, Geological, Civil Engineering or similar required
  • 15+ years of leadership experience, with at least 10 years at a Senior or Executive level, within a relevant industry
  • 10+ years working with progressively increasing professional or technical and sales responsibility in explosives, mining, geo-technical or heavy-industry related field
  • Advanced people management skills including leadership, performance management and coaching
  • Demonstrated experience with safety, environment, quality, and training systems
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering and exceeding sales targets/objectives
  • Displayed competency in value / solutions selling (evidence through case studies) that has delivered on both service provider and customer expectations
  • Project Management: Demonstrated ability to organize and manage concurrent priorities/projects mainly through the field coordination of Sales and Technical employees
  • Strong understanding of Dyno Nobel products / offerings and their application compared to competitor products and across industry
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding explosives application technology, basic geology, blast event seismology, customer value-chain improvement as related to drill and blast
  • Must be willing to undergo and pass an ATF background check as required to be a possessor of explosives
  • Positive attitude, friendly demeanor, and a team player
