Product Engineer - Remanufacturing

Job Functions (Essential)
  1. Lead the implementation of new remanufactured products and engineering changes into remanufacturing and overhaul by directly supporting sales and operation's needs.
  2. Review, initiate and implement engineering changes and introduce them to production.
  3. Support of all remanufacturing and overhaul products working closely with global service engineering department
  4. Develop custom Bills of Materials for components and overhauls to meet on-time delivery while balancing overall product cost for the US market.
  5. Coordinate with sales on customer needs providing custom offerings (labor and material estimates) for securing order and final implementation of solution for operations to execute
  6. Support investigations, trials and evaluation on components and engines to determine the best method for releasing and executing while keeping in mind quality and product cost.
  7. Make recommendations and develop long-term plans for product offerings to align with product portfolio
  8. Communicate assembly problems in a timely matter with quality and service engineering (product engineers in Friedrichshafen, India and Magdeburg)
  9. Support/coordinate the build of overhaul engines and components, including the Build of Materials (BOM)
  10. Create 3D models of engines and assemblies from BOM's to verify a product release and support the training and execution of production orders
  11. Provide management with regular reports on project work plans and status, for informational and resource management purposes
  12. Maintain a neat workplace and organized informational files pertaining to project work assignments
  13. Promotes a compliance culture in area of responsibility and live the letter and the spirit of the Rolls-Royce Code of Conduct
  14. Supports, encourages, and models the principles defined by the MTU/Rolls-Royce "High Performance Culture" platform
  15. Performs special projects as required.

Qualifications:

Qualifications (Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)
Required:
  1. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering and 3 years of engineering experience related to the design, manufacture, assembly or test of internal combustion engines; or 5 years of engineering experience related to the design, manufacture, assembly or test of internal combustion engines
  2. Strong knowledge of design, development and test engineering, and assembly operations
  3. Strong analytical and problem-solving ability, where problems are complex
  4. Strong ability to interpret blueprints and drawings
  5. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with others inside and outside department
  6. Strong oral and written communication skills
  7. Good understanding of manufacturing processes, methods, and materials
  8. Good presentation skills
  9. Proficient with Autocad, Creo or other drawing software and programs
  10. Proficient with PC and MS Office Suite Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacturing of products.

Preferred:
  1. Hands on experience with MTU diesel engines
  2. Completion of recommended company-training programs
  3. Knowledge of job-related product information
  4. Understanding of ISO/QS-9000 requirements
  5. Knowledge of SAP

Work Conditions:

This position has compressed work schedule to align with production (Monday through Friday).

While performing tasks for this position, the employee is regularly requested to perform work on a computer inside and occasionally outside of the work environment. Also, the employee will occasionally be required to work in environmental conditions where there are fumes and dust. Finally, the employee will be frequently requested to perform tasks in environmental conditions where there are unpleasant odors and gases. Please note, the conditions can be hazardous.


While performing physical demands of the position, occasionally the employee will be occasionally requested to stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and squat. Also, the employee will be regularly requested to sit within a particular work environment. Next, the employee will frequently be requested to walk inside and outside the work environment. Finally, an employee will be regularly requested to grasp and manipulate items in a maneuverable manner to perform daily tasks.
