Job Description

Spectra Tech has an immediate need for a Project Cost Accountant in Aiken, SC.

    Hands-on accounting professional responsible for the accurate approval and reporting of all project-based financial transactions. Duties will include project-based cash flow, accounts receivable management, budget development and oversight.


    Job Description:

    • As part of the Project Management Team, will review, approve and manage all project related expenses from proposal through payment to ensure carried out in accordance with budget, project terms and conditions as well as all other relevant internal and external finance and project requirements.
    • Ensure customer invoices are generated and submitted on time and track until payment is received.
    • Monitor project task completion as well as purchasing and material control activities to ensure accurate completion according to schedule and budget.
    • Monthly balance sheet account reconciliation and open order reporting.
    • Make certain the services of all project subcontractors, fabricators and vendors are retained in accordance with project budgets.
    • Complete understanding of each project's contract, budget, and schedule details to ensure all project-based expenditures are processed in accordance with established procedures and project budgets.
    • Prepare applicable weekly/monthly/quarterly/ annual reports for management on key project-based criteria such as P&L, cash flow and performance against budgets as well as accounts payable and accounts receivable ageing.
    • Work with sales team pre-sale to fully understand project scope and approve pricing and budget.
    • Monitor and reconcile applicable GL and balance sheet accounts and activities to ensure proper transactional flow and accurate recording at the project, GL, and P&L level.
    • Optimize use of the ERP (MS AX) system.
    • Other related special projects, as required.

    Essential Skills:
    Degree in Finance, Accounting or other related discipline.
    Minimum four (4) years of experience in an accounting role for a manufacturing company with at least three (3) years of project accounting experience.
    Must be familiar with full cycle accounting and understand all the processes and documents necessary to produce project based financial statements.
    Proficiency in the use of an ERP or MRP system.
    Thorough knowledge of standard contract terms and conditions.
    Capable of thriving in a fast paced, demanding environment and effectively communicating with customers, vendors, and employees at all position levels.
    Proficiency in MS Office Suite with highly defined skills in the use of MS Excel.
    Analytical, detail oriented, independent thinker.
    Well defined organizational and time management skills coupled with the ability to apply problem-solving skills with minimal guidance by management.
    Prior experience working with Government Contracts and specifically the Government WAWF system.
    Excellent oral and written communication skills to ensure effective communication both internally and externally using all available methods of communication.
    Proficiency in monitoring commercial terms and conditions.
    Detail oriented individual with well-established analyzing skills.


    Non-Essential Skills:
    MBA, or equivalent advanced Degree.
    Prior experience working with Government FAR and DFAR regulations.
    Experience working with MS AX or MS Dynamics 365 ERP system.
    Experience with MS Project.


    Physical & Mental Demands:
    Regularly required to sit, walk, bend and stand.
    Expected to effectively communicate in person, on phone, and via email and other electronic devices on a continual and repetitive basis.
    Will need to repeatedly use hands to finger, handle, feel and operate standard office equipment.
    Day-to-day responsibilities may require lifting, moving, carrying, and maneuvering materials up to 25 pounds alone; heavier with assistance.
    Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.
    Must be able to fulfill essential job function in a consistent state of alertness and safe manner.
