Structural Engineer III

We're looking for a full-time, staff Structural Engineer III to join our Day & Zimmermann team located in either

As the Structural Engineer III, here's the work you'll do:

Under general supervision, a Structural Engineer III is expected to develop structural analysis and design deliverables, engineering design criteria and specifications for foundations, concrete and steel structures on various sized projects. Able to prepare basic to complex levels of structural analysis and design for industrial facilities including process equipment foundations, buildings, dynamic and rotating equipment, open structures, pipe racks and modifications to existing facilities. The position could require the individual to provide discipline administrative and supervisory functions on the assigned project, including the development of discipline scope documents, engineering budgets, schedule and associated staffing plans and management of assigned staff.

  • Prepares or checks structural calculations, sketches, specifications and supports development of design drawings prepared by designers.
  • Provides technical guidance for the pertinent portions of the assigned projects including review of vendor documents and shop drawings.
  • Develops and monitors project scopes and schedule for applicable discipline. Identifies changes in scope and their impact, as they occur.
  • Provides coordination of design efforts with other disciplines, subcontractors, construction and client personnel.
  • Monitors and ensures design work and documents are correct, consistent with applicable codes, logically presented and constructible.
  • When responsible for work, stamps required project documents as a PE.
This role is for you if you have these skills:
  • Experience in effective project execution and project procedures. Familiar with codes and standards of ACI, AISC, IBC and ASCE. Ability to supervise and lead the completion of projects.
  • Strong organizational skills for multiple projects.
  • Exhibits both technical breadth and depth of subject structural engineering curriculum and is able to effectively communicate complex technical solutions and concepts.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office suite applications, and the ability to quickly learn and use other software packages.
  • Proficiency in one or more structural analysis software packages (RISA or Staad.pro preferred).
  • Able to work in AutoCAD and Bluebeam.
  • Experience using Revit and Tekla Structures a plus.

And if you have these qualifications:
  • ABET BS Degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis on Structural. Master's degree in Structural Engineering preferred.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience.
  • NCEES accreditation preferred.
  • PE strongly preferred.
  • AutoCAD, Bluebeam, RISA 3D or STAAD.Pro.
  • US Citizenship.
  • Great attitude and team player.
  • Successful completion of background screening process.

In compliance with this state's pay transparency laws, the wage range for this role is $96,160 - $144,240. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. (The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements).
