Summary:

Venture Aerobearings LLC is a joint venture established by SKF and GE Aviation to manufacture aeroengine bearings for the commercial aircraft industry. The manufacturing facility is located in Ladson, SC and brings together the latest technology from both GE and SKF and using a self-directed/high performing team concept. Venture Aerobearings continues to improve the manufacturing processes through innovative use of equipment and inspection while striving towards digital transformation.

The NDT Level III Specialist reports to the Quality Leader and is responsible for the day-to-day technical support for nondestructive testing. The individual will be named the NDT Responsible Level III for the plant. Oversight includes the disciplines of Magnetic Particle Inspection (MT), Eddy Current inspection (ET), and Nital Etch inspection (STE). This individual will work in concert with the Quality Leader to provide the overall technical leadership and direction for Nondestructive Evaluation at Venture Aerobearings LLC.

Responsibilities:

  • The successful candidate will primarily:
    • Maintain customer and/ or Nadcap approval of the NDT systems as required.
    • Develop, update, and implement NDT procedures and work instructions required for equipment and processes used for NDT inspection.
    • Develop, utilize, and maintain documentation necessary for training new and existing NDT inspectors and candidates.
    • Administer training as well as written and practical examinations, for the above individuals.
    • Make final determination on acceptability of questionable hardware found by the NDT process.
    • Maintain necessary documentation for the control of the NDT processes, including equipment, tooling, and supplies.
  • The candidate will additionally support:
    • Plant level AS9100 systems and processes including: external and internal audits, process documentation and maintenance.
    • Customer specification review and flow-down.
    • Vendor related activities.
    • Monitoring, control, and disposition of non-conforming material.
    • Initiation and monitoring of corrective actions.
    • Continuous improvement activities including Lean and Six Sigma.

Requirements:

  • The position requires a Bachelor's Degree in a related engineering or science field; (or a high school diploma/GED with at least 4 years of experience in a manufacturing or shop environment).
  • NDT Level III certification in two (2) of the three (3) NDT disciplines used at Venture Aerobearings (MT, ET, STE) or the individual must be able to achieve NDT Level III status in two (2) disciplines within six (6) months achieving ASNT, NAS 410, and/or customer certification for each discipline as required.
  • Work in a self-directed/high performing team environment.
