Job Description

Steers and supports integration and verification of equipment and processes within the energy module technology department to ensure process and product quality for new or series products. Manages continuous improvement activities and projects to optimize equipment and automated processes in battery production. Identifies, analyzes, and drives resolution of process and series production problems. Adjusts automation programs and parameters as necessary to ensure product and process quality. Steers and supports automation system install, commissioning, and testing for battery production. Analyzes the scope of new designs by means of a systematic approach with the goal being a repeatable, robust manufacturing process. Develops solutions to highly complex problems, with equipment and processes which require regular use of ingenuity and innovation. Adheres to and administers business policies, budgets, procedures, practices and/or review of major projects and assignments. Supports procurement, process engineering, and design engineering in the problem solving process with external BMW suppliers (i.e. presents data or develops possible solutions, evaluates solutions). Steers maintenance of the equipment, within the assigned process area with troubleshooting, uptime optimization, and equipment continuous improvements. Understands complex robot systems, conveyor systems, vision systems, materials supply and other equipment requirements. Promotes the principles and values of Plant Spartanburg in daily activities and future plans. Understands and models VPS (Value Added Production System) Principles and concepts of Standard Work and Problem Solving. Adheres to 5S and Safety Standards and Principles. Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications
BS degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial
Engineering preferred) or STEM related field OR the equivalent of 4
years of equipment integration or project support in manufacturing
environment (automotive preferred). MS Degree in STEM (preferred).
5+ years of experience with robotics or process automation in
manufacturing (automotive preferred).
As applicable, per BMW training guidelines.
3+ years of technical problem-solving skills as proven through business
application.
3+ years of innovative problem-solving skills in process automation,
product design, quality and/or process topics.
3+ years of continuous improvement tools (ex. PDCA, 5 Why, FMEA, etc.)
3+ years of written and verbal communication skills as proven through
business application.
3+ years of Microsoft Office skills as proven through business
application.
