Job Description
Responsibilities

SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES:

To develop and administer a comprehensive intensive outpatient, partial hospitalization program, Suboxone program or other outpatient programs that responds to the community's need and supports the organization's overall mission, philosophy, and goals. To integrate the management of the intensive outpatient, partial hospitalization program, Suboxone program or other outpatient programs into the Carolina Center's continuum of care.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Able to facilitate therapy groups.
  2. Complete Psycho Social assessments.
  3. Maintains patient, program, department and related documentation.
  4. Effectively communicates with patient family or patient social support.
  5. Effective discharge planning skills.
  6. Effective oral and written communication skills.
  7. Substantial knowledge of therapeutic skills and can effectively use these skills to intervene with behavioral health patients.
  8. Participate in restraint and seclusion of patients when required.
  9. Completes annual and other training in a timely manner.
  10. Participates in treatment care planning and helps implement treatment care plan.
  11. Supports hospital Service Excellence standards.
  12. Maintains CPR training.
  13. Carry out clerical and administrative assignment to support patient care and department and organization operations.
  14. Demonstrates conduct in keeping with CCBH's ethical standards.
  15. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Skill in comprehension, psychological evaluation, assessment and treatment planning; skill in therapeutic support involving both individual and group therapy; skill in written and oral communication; knowledgeable in the growth, development, and emotional needs of children, adolescents, as well as the specialized emotional needs of adult patients; basic organizational, problem-solving and leadership skills; skill in documentation and record-keeping; knowledge of basic marketing strategies, including skill in public speaking; knowledge of standards of ethical and quality care, confidentiality and adherence to regulatory requirements; ability to maintain therapeutic posture with patients who are in various stages of emotional stability; ability to maintain self-control in volatile or hostile situations; skills in maintaining information as highly confidential.

Master's degree in social work, psychology, mental health counseling or similar educational degree Required. Appropriate licensure required; experience in psychiatric hospital setting preferred; range of experience within the continuum of care preferred (e.g. intensive outpatient, partial hospitalization program, Suboxone program or other outpatient programs.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS OF JOB:

Ability to exercise self control in potentially volatile situations such as being verbally or physically confronted in a threatening or aggressive manner. Able to reach, walk and stand for sustained periods of time; able to move about quickly on foot; able to finger, grasp (sometimes using repetitive motions) and lift objects, raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position; able to push using upper extremities to press against something with steady force; able to express and exchange ideas via spoken word to convey detailed information in an audible, accurate and possible quick manner; able to perceive the nature of sounds with no less than a 40 db loss @ Hz, 1000 Hz, and 20000 Hz, with or without correction; able to make fine discriminations in sound.

Work is primarily sedentary in nature, requiring the occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force to lift, carry push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.

Visual acuity required adequate for reading, preparing and analyzing data, transcription, and characters on computer terminal; visual inspection of documents.

Worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions; conditions are typical of office settings and administrative work.

Must be able to concentrate on work amidst distractions such as noise, conversations and foot traffic; must be able to consistently meet deadlines regardless of case load; must be flexible in work hours in order to meet patient and hospital operating needs.

VISUAL ACUITY:

Ability to inspect and analyze figures, transcription, written materials, computer terminal characters, and other similar objects at distances generally close to the eyes.
