About the Position

Our Safety Managers oversee an operation's safety program and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. We hire individuals who make safety and customer service their top priorities.

  • Coordinate compliance with Federal, State, and local laws and work closely with General Manager or Designee to accomplish company objectives
  • Manage driver training and may conduct driver training, recommend retraining and discipline as required
  • Conduct or supervise interviewing, selection, and recruitment of an adequate number of operator applicants to effectively provide safe, efficient, service
  • Oversee accident investigations and corrective actions moving forward
  • Conduct or assist General Manager with safety training and meetings. Review accident reports to reduce the number and severity of accidents, maintain complete safety files (an example is accident report, I-9, bus reports, worker compensation injury reports)
  • Maintain or coordinate complete personnel record keeping. Maintain substance abuse file

Qualifications

  • Currently, possess a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger Endorsement
  • Minimum three years of recent experience managing paratransit safety/training programs or similar position
  • Ability to learn First Transit's safety & training policies, procedures, and programs
  • Must be able to present in a classroom setting and train employees in pursuit of their CDL
  • Maintain and report drivers' credentials including, but not limited to, MVR, Physicals, Randoms, etc.
  • Knowledge of federal and state rules and regulations regarding safety and environmental issues
  • Daily, weekly, & monthly reporting requirements
  • Working knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, MS suite
  • Ability to effectively prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
  • Communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and written. Additionally, the candidate needs to be able to interact with all levels of employees including Drivers to Senior Management
  • Travel as needed to conduct company business
  • Work environments include office, transit facility, fieldwork, maintenance facility, and transit vehicles
