Responsibilities

The Aerospace Corporation is seeking a Space Architecture Undergraduate Intern for an internship opportunity. This position will be located in Houston, TX.

The qualified candidate will become part of the Space Architecture Department. This department provides system-level, architecture-level, and cross-portfolio engineering and program assessment analyses of space systems and launch systems, collaborating with other organizations across Aerospace as needed, for NASA and National Security Space (NSS) programs.

KEY FUNCTIONS

  • Assist in the development of pre-acquisition architectures and help to identify top-level requirements that will drive new systems of systems.
  • Assist in the development of innovative tools and techniques for design and assessment of advanced space and launch systems
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary study teams
  • Closely collaborate with other Aerospace personnel and customers
  • Participates with an interdisciplinary team in ongoing research or technical programs with academic collaboration partners.
  • Applies standard techniques and procedures to carry out a series of prescribed scientific and/or engineering tasks.
  • Training and mentorship will be provided.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Currently enrolled at an accredited college/university degree program pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Math, Engineering, Science or related program
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint and Excel)
  • Minimum GPA 3.0
  • Must be able to obtain a security clearance
  • US Citizenship required
  • Customer service orientation
  • Ability to quickly troubleshoot problems
  • Must be detail oriented
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and projects
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and projects at one time
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision, to self-initiate activities, and to work within timelines
  • Must possess time management and project management skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • GPA 3.5 or higher
  • Active security clearance
  • Knowledge of space architecture conceptual design, analysis, and systems engineering techniques.
  • Familiarity with spacecraft, payloads, ground systems, and launch systems
