Paint Shop Materials & Environmental Co-op (Fall 2024)

This is a co-op position which requires three alternating rotations (e. g. 1st rotation: spring, 2nd rotation: fall, 3rd rotation: summer).

The Materials and Planning Co-Op will be responsible for:

·       Support and lead projects to improve quality of processes supporting use of Paint Shop materials.

·       Determine root cause of defects related to process materials within Paint Shop.

·       Paint shop consumes the largest amount of natural resources across the plant; it is crucial to constantly be working on ways to reduce energy consumption and water usage for sustainable production of BMW X-Vehicles. 

 

The Intern should expect to contribute and improve the following: 

    ·       Maintain quality of all materials in paint shop

    ·       Validate and integrate new materials

    ·       Reduce energy consumption

    ·       Manage paint suppliers and escalation topics

    ·       Various production-critical tasks

    ·       Launching BMW Individual Colors and Matte Colors

    ·       Trialing new materials (PVC, wax, clearcoat, etc.)

    ·       Energy reduction projects

     

    Qualifications
    • Engineering Degree
    • Knowledge of Thermodynamics (Heat and Mass Transfer)
    • Willingness to work in a production environment
    • Flexible; good at multitasking and prioritizing
    • Good at working with people
    • Possess a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
    • Have full-time status at an accredited four-year college or university in the United States

    • Completed at least 30 credit hours
    • Able to complete 3 rotating terms for co-op positions
    • Have at least 1 remaining term in school after the completion of the co-op or internship
    • Transfer students must have a GPA from current university
    • Complete and pass a substance abuse test before the work term
    • MUST ATTACH A COPY OF UNOFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT
    • Work dates are August 12th-December 13th, 2024.
