Job Description
Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on Ground Support Equipment (GSE). Inspects, tests, and operates GSE to determine equipment serviceability and proper operation. Diagnoses mechanical and electronic circuitry malfunctions using visual and auditory senses, test equipment, and technical publications. Removes, disassembles, repairs, cleans, treats for corrosion, assembles, and reinstalls GSE accessories and components. Stencils and marks AGE. Services equipment with fuel, oil, coolant, water, hydraulic fluid, and air. Operates, cleans, inspects, and services GSE towing vehicles; maintains vehicle forms. Provides dispatch service for GSE, including positioning equipment to support aircraft maintenance and flying operations.

Provides extensive maintenance coverage in the areas of responsibility by performing maintenance work necessary to prevent functional breakdowns. Extensive experience in hydraulics preferred as duties will include maintenance and repair of equipment hydraulic systems.

May be required to perform major overhaul and rebuilding of machinery and equipment.

Perform diagnostics, repair, and preventative maintenance on equipment items.

Determines methods and sequence of troubleshooting, repair operations, and modifications to equipment by working from manufacturers manuals, drawings, and specifications, installation layouts and sketches and verbal or written instructions. Replace worn or broken parts, make adjustments and alignments as required, clean areas, and prepare equipment for full service.

Basic Qualifications
Must have 8 or more years of hands-on maintenance experience dealing with diesel and gasoline engines from small to large trucks.

Must be experienced in utilizing mechanical tools of the trade, including diagnostic tools and repair of the identified equipment as required by the essential job functions.

Must be able to interpret electrical schematics, engineering drawings, and manufacturer diagrams and manuals.

Must possess diagnostic skills required to isolate and repair equipment malfunctions.

Desired skills
Knowledgeable and able to perform equipment repair on heavy equipment, diesel engines, forklifts, vehicles, and other aircraft ground support equipment.

Knowledge of electrical troubleshooting methods and technology.

Ability to perform periodic and annual inspections and maintenance of equipment, assists other mechanics in diagnosing and troubleshooting of equipment.

Ability to prepare required records and reports on all assigned equipment, identify and order parts required, and provide assistance in training employees in areas of specialties.
