Job Description

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide technical, sales, and marketing support for existing and new customers.
  • Work with architects, specifiers, and building officials promoting brands.
  • Assist in new product launches and start-ups.
  • Provide production equipment and plant engineering
  • Participate in Koppers innovation program and goals
  • Steer product approvals with third-party and inspection agencies
  • Perform continuing education classes
  • Attend industry association meetings and tradeshows
  • Provide and assist in offsite plants and troubleshooting
  • Face to face selling and negotiating
  • Raw materials sourcing and cost efficiencies
  • Logistics coordination
  • Draft and present product and program proposals
  • Provide innovation and production in non-traditional business segments
  • Oversee product testing. Review acceptance criteria for new products; works with certification agencies.
  • Develop test samples for industry approvals related to innovation.
  • Create treating and quality control manuals for new products.
  • Work with customers on plant set-up, certification with listing agencies.
  • Train and support staff on the products at their locations.
  • Work with tollers in setting up product tolerances. Monitors tollers on a continual basis.
  • Maintain relationships with suppliers, customers and auditing bodies.
  • Directly oversee all the technical aspects of the Fire-Retardant business.
  • Broad scope of responsibility including P&L accountability, sales forecasting, pricing, new product training and employee development.
  • Review all production and QC reports. Compile monthly treating summaries and track chemical inventories.
  • Oversee and worked with contractors on innovation projects.
  • Presented, negotiated, and win bid specifications for commercial projects.
  • Maintained existing and new accounts.
  • Key account relationship management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred; High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 10-15 years industry experience
  • Experience in the lumber business
  • Experience with production plants and or saw mills
  • Extensive Building code and Fire-Retardant product approval process knowledge
  • Purchasing experience
  • Logistics experience
  • Production experience
  • Chemical formulation development & testing
  • Business & product management
  • Equipment Engineering or mechanical experience preferred
  • Able to travel 50% throughout North America
