Position Overview

Commercial Metals Company is currently seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to support our Columbia Recycling location. The Maintenance Mechanic will be responsible for inspecting and maintaining mobile equipment, conducting PM's and managing work orders.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Ensures safe execution of routine and preventative maintenance work.
  • Keeps equipment available for use by inspecting and testing.
  • Maintains equipment appearance by cleaning, washing, and painting.
  • Maintains equipment records by recording service and repairs.
  • Keeps shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns and maintaining supplies.
  • Operate lawn equipment and facilities maintenance as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Experience and Skill Requirements
  • 1 - 3 years previous maintenance mechanic experience preferred.
  • Previous experience with hydraulics, wiring and working on heavy equipment preferred.
  • Must provide own tools to perform the job.
  • Valid driver's license with clean record.
  • Must meet CMC attendance standards.
  • Ability to interact with co-workers and customers in a positive manner, follow directions and work rules and accept constructive feedback required.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, push, pull, lift, kneel, squat, crawl and reach.
  • Ability to work overtime as necessary outside of normally scheduled shift with little or no advance notification required, including weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to read and write in English.
  • Must be familiar with OSHA safety requirements and compliant with CMC's safety policy required.
Education Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
