Job Title: Engineering Intern

ALEX - Alternative Experts is now hiring an Engineering Intern with strong creative problem solving skills for an upcoming opening in Dumfries, VA. With a heavy focus on professional development, we are open to considering candidates at various skill levels and from a diverse range of academic disciplines (mechanical engineering, software engineering, mathematics, physics, and more). The successful candidate will become a member of our technical team to assist in the creation of cutting-edge Machine Learning tools using Deep Neural Networks.

Required:

• Meet and maintain Security Clearance Sponsorship eligibility requirements
• Basic level of proficiency with Python
• Technical competence and data-oriented personality with willingness to learn on the job
• Ability to conduct detailed, annotated research
• Willingness to learn and be a part of a diverse team
• Experience using Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, & Outlook)
• Excellent written & verbal communication skills

Preferred:

• Competency in Deep Neural Networks
• Knowledge of Natural Language Processing tools
• Experience with data science toolkits, such as Python's NLTK, REGEX, SciPy, or NumPy
• Experience with NoSQL databases, such as MongoDB, Cassandra, or HBase

Education:

• Pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical field
