Description

Our Bellevue, WA office is seeking a qualified intern to fill a Transportation Design Intern need to support our team while working on transportation related projects. A successful candidate will work on multidiscipline projects performing independent engineering calculations and design using specialized technical skills, experience and engineering judgment to transform concept designs into construction drawings and technical specifications. The work may include freeway, highway and roadway design, signing and pavement marking plans, traffic signal plans, street improvements, utility plans, traffic control plans, storm water, technical writing, quantity calculations, and construction documents, and all supporting documentation.

Other duties include:

  • Coordinate projects with supervisor, project managers, and firm staff.
  • Provide sketches and/or detailed layout information to design staff for incorporation into the construction drawings.
  • Designs, prepares and analyzes preliminary and final plans in AutoCAD, MicroStation, and InRoads software.
  • Prepares and designs street improvement plans, public improvement plans, and rough and precise grading plans.
  • Analyzes maps, reports, drawings, as-builts and test results for design projects.
  • Preparation and modification of reports, specifications and designs for project.
  • Provide project specific technical information to the Project Manager for incorporation into the project specifications.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Applicants must be in the pursuit of an undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering, with at least 2+ years of completed course work.
  • Microsoft Office (Excel and word), and AutoCAD skills are recommended
  • Physically able to work outside in a variety of weather conditions
  • Applicant must have a valid driver's license and clear motor vehicle report
  • Ability to communicate and work in a team oriented environment
