JMT is seeking a civil engineering design intern who will work closely with experienced Design and Project Engineers of various disciplines to carry out an array of assigned tasks. Duties include, but are not limited to, assembling data and assisting with problem-solving requiring basic theories and engineering fundamentals; utilizing computer programs to solve engineering problems; assisting with layout and design of small, medium, and large-sized engineering projects, providing quantity take-offs and construction estimates, specification development or preparation, and maintaining accurate and current project documentation.



Required Skills
  • Interest in Transportation/Highways or Structural Engineering
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Availability to perform field work


Required Experience
  • Full time student at the freshman, sophomore, junior, or graduate level pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering or closely related major
  • Participant in team-based management style
  • Background in civil design including Microstation/AutoCAD
  • Proven track record of innovative solutions to difficult problems
  • Previous civil engineering internship experience preferred

Working Conditions

Work is performed within a general office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.
