This position falls under ABM's Business & Industry sector within the Sustainability Department. The candidate will complete internal and external client-facing projects that advance sustainability agendas covering multiple client locations using ABM's data-driven approach to sustainable facility solutions.

Responsibilities:

The ideal candidate will have knowledge, or interest in empowering others to become leaders in environmental and social stewardship, improving corporate transparency through series data reporting, and will be eager to support a growing department dedicated to progressing its competitive advantage. Seeking to develop creative and cost efficient solutions to address challenges occurring at the environmental/business interface; responsibilities that you will be potentially exposed to, or asked to assist with, during your internship include but are not limited to:

  • Identify opportunities for cross-selling and marketing of sustainability services
  • Develop business strategies for program expansion and pushing forth sustainable agendas
  • Perform cost-benefit analyses to determine operational and financial outcomes
  • Create case studies of environmental, social, and financial impacts of internal programs
  • Data management of utilities; maintenance and enhancement of software analytics
  • Solid waste benchmarking, data analysis, and reporting
  • Execution of waste characterization studies and waste stream data measurement
  • Oversight and scheduling of specialty recycling programs
  • Train staff on new and existing safety and sustainability procedures
  • Acknowledge local businesses for sustainability achievements by assisting in certification efforts
  • Corporate onsite waste-sorting programs
  • Ensure company standards and client needs are met in compliance with operational and contractual obligations to customers within specified labor and budget expenses
  • Foster positive client relationships
  • Work is accomplished with intentions of maintaining company integrity and building value to our customers

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications Preferred:

  • Business, Marketing, or Environmental Studies major
  • Junior in college, or proficiency in advanced coursework
  • Knowledge and understanding of current Business-Sustainability/Environmental topics (i.e. Environmental Regulations, Green Energy Technologies, Greenhouse Gases, Waste and Recycling, Energy and Water Conservation, etc.).
  • High skill level in Excel; able to push back reports in time-efficient manner
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
  • Availability to work a full-time schedule during internship
    • 10 week internship, 40 hours a week

Salary- $18.00 per hour
