Research Intern / Research Assistant III
Hinson Lab
The Hinson laboratory at The Jackson Laboratory for Genomic Medicine in Farmington, CT is seeking a talented individual experienced in computational biology, cell and molecular biology.
The focus of the Hinson laboratory is to understand the molecular and genetic basis of inherited cardiac disorders. We employ diverse approaches but we are particularly focused on the development of novel, biomimetic tissue models of cardiomyopathy using disease-specific induced pluripotent stem cells (iPScs). The Hinson lab also performs genome engineering of stem cells with CRISPR/CAS9 and TALE nucleases, in vitro cardiac differentiation, flow cytometry, NGS assays especially RNAseq and single cell RNAseq, and basic microfabrication. We are seeking a highly-motivated individual who has prior experience with computational methods focused on NGS data analysis, and some previous exposure to molecular biology and cell culture techniques.
The successful candidate will be hired as either a Research Intern or a Research Assistant III, dependent on experience. The Research Intern is a temporary position lasting up to 36 months designed specifically for recent graduates with a 4-year degree looking to advance their scientific/research training prior to pursuing further educational endeavors, whereas the Research Assistant III is a permanent position requiring more developed skills and experience.
