Internship-System Operations Control Center (SOCC) -Spring 2018

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties shall include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Assist the Director of System/Operations Planning and Dispatch with special projects
  • Conduct SOCC related studies
  • Assist with auditing procedures within Dispatch, Operations Planning, System Planning and System Control departments
  • Prepare reports and analysis for Director of System/Operations Planning and Dispatch
  • Receive, compile, and analyze operations related reports
  • Assist Dispatch, System Control, System Planning, and Operations Planning with daily activities in fast-paced, high volume operation
  • Work closely with department Managers on each mission's progress from planning stage through execution stage
  • Participate in daily morning Operations meeting
  • Assist Dispatch with Flight Following
  • Assist Dispatch with Weather Monitoring
  • Assist Dispatch with Basic Flight Planning
  • Assist Mission Planning with over flight application process
  • Assist Mission Planning with Basic Flight Planning process working in the Flight Plan Request System

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Currently enrolled as a full-time student at a university, college, or technical school
  • Have sufficient hours completed to be considered a Junior or Senior
  • Possess broad general aviation education
  • Possess ability for clear expression in writing
  • Computer literacy, proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Organizational ability
  • Capability to work independently (at times under pressure)
  • Good analytical skills
  • Proficient verbal, written, and presentation communication skills
  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Must have good interpersonal skills and ability to work both independently and as a member of a team
  • Be worthy of commanding respect among peers and management officials
  • Able to provide own housing and transportation during employment
  • Must be able to pass a 10-year Background/Criminal check and pre-employment drug screen

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Currently enrolled full-time student at a university, college, or technical college
  • Graduate or undergraduate student with sufficient credits to qualify as a junior or senior
  • Possess a minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Preferred knowledge that would be considered helpful:
  • Declared major or minor in aviation or aerospace
  • Airline Operations, Airports, and/or ATC Systems
  • Terminal and/or Enroute Charts
  • Meteorology, Aviation weather

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY

  • Stand - 5%
  • Walk - 5%
  • Sit - 90%
  • Lift up to 35 lbs

MENTAL CAPABILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to handle numerous activities at once and complete in a timely manner
  • Work with limited supervision and possess an impeccable attention to detail, excellent customer service and organizational skills required
  • Must be willing to work in a time-sensitive environment and effectively handle stress associated with meeting deadlines, or managing unexpected change
  • Able to process information quickly and react in a positive manner during unexpected and/or serious situations
  • Able to work in a culturally diverse atmosphere and interact professionally
  • Able to understand, remember, and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information
