SUMMARY:
The Molding Process Technician tends one or more injection molding machines, or industrial robots, to mold plastic components to specifications on production basis. Requires the ability to plan and perform and sequence of operations and the making of major decisions, involving the running or stopping of molds and the supervision of other employees. This position also supports the training of new Molding Process Technician Trainees in injection molding processing as well as assisting in the development of the trainees understanding of internal processes and procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Set-up machines, heater boxes, cooling systems, valve gate systems and color equipment to achieve standard operating efficiencies.
- Pull and set molds when instructed using chain hoists.
- Adjusts process to maintain quality parts, by moving machine controls and guides.
- Monitors machine parameters on Mattec system.
- Set up box mover systems, robotics, conair systems, conveyors and granulators.
- Perform general simple machine maintenance.
- Drive forklift in and out of doors to move material, production and molds.
- Enter production data in computer and analyze data.
- Update production book on weekends and fill in for Team Leader when required.
- Fill out charts and other reports and generate checklists.
- Perform Manufacturing Associate duties as required.
- Promotes safety in the workplace, follows all safety rules, and recognizes and corrects unsafe work conditions.
- The regular schedule for this position exceeds eight hours per day, 40 hours per week. Additional overtime is assigned as needed.
- Must be able to use some adjustable measuring instruments such as micrometers and various gauges.
- Must know molding of various plastic materials as well as hydraulic, electrical and mechanical maintenance.
- Must have some knowledge of cooling systems and their repair as well as the use of welders and other tools and equipment to perform needed repairs.
- Must follow all work rules and policies.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must have a high degree of knowledge about molding machines, their operation, set up, care and maintenance, to be able to set molds, start up and make adjustments to machines and molds in order to product quality parts at production standards.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percentage.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to handle problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
