Project Manager - Facilities Design

Project Manager - Facilities Design (145842)

About Us

At HDR, we specialize in engineering, architecture, environmental and construction services. While we are most well-known for adding beauty and structure to communities through high-performance buildings and smart infrastructure, we provide much more than that. We create an unshakable foundation for progress because our multidisciplinary teams also include scientists, economists, builders, analysts and artists. That's why we believe diversity is our greatest strength. HDR is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace and an affirmative action employer.

We believe that the way we work can add meaning and value to the world. That ideas inspire positive change. That coloring outside the lines can illuminate fresh perspectives. And that small details yield important realizations. Above all, we believe that collaboration is the best way forward.

Primary Responsibilities

HDR is looking for a Project Manager to join our Federal Business Group. This position may be located in either our Charlotte, NC or Charleston, SC office. Duties include project management of multi-discipline planning and design teams to support large, medium, and small scale federal projects, including both vertical and horizontal facilities. The Federal Project Manager will lead and manage teams to execute the planning, design and construction support activities throughout the life of assigned projects. In addition, the Federal Project Manager will be fully responsible for achieving the scope, schedule and profit for each assigned project to meet both client and company expectations. The candidate must establish client relationships and be involved throughout the complete life cycle of projects including marketing, proposal development, negotiations, and contract execution. The candidate will also help lead multi-discipline teams to conduct on-site work sessions for planning and design development. Additional responsibilities will include: working with accounting managers, project controllers, and the local office manager for project reviews and implementation of QA/QC procedures. Candidates must be willing to travel throughout the U.S. and potentially abroad.

Charlotte, North Carolina, is a city on the move, and we're proud to have been supporting the city's progress since 1961. Over more than 50 years, we've touched nearly every facet of the community - from the roads people drive on to the water they drink to how they power their homes. And just as the city continues to grow and change, so do the services we provide.

Today, nearly 250 employees in Charlotte are part of our team of almost 500 across North and South Carolina working to ensure that the region's infrastructure can support its growth trajectory for the next 50 years. With a mix of architects, engineers, environmental scientists, planners and more, we foster a collaborative environment focused on bringing the best of what we have to offer to each and every project. Projects like the New Hanover Regional Medical Center, Manchester Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant and GoTriangle Light Rail Transit, just to name a few.

Our projects are making a difference - and so too are our people. We take pride in knowing that the work we do will impact the community for years to come.
