About Us
At HDR, we specialize in engineering, architecture, environmental and construction services. While we are most well-known for adding beauty and structure to communities through high-performance buildings and smart infrastructure, we provide much more than that. We create an unshakable foundation for progress because our multidisciplinary teams also include scientists, economists, builders, analysts and artists. That's why we believe diversity is our greatest strength. HDR is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace and an affirmative action employer.
We believe that the way we work can add meaning and value to the world. That ideas inspire positive change. That coloring outside the lines can illuminate fresh perspectives. And that small details yield important realizations. Above all, we believe that collaboration is the best way forward.
Primary Responsibilities
HDR is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our East Region Design Center in either Charlotte, NC or Greenville, SC. They will be responsible for the design of facilities related mechanical systems across a variety of markets including Water/Wastewater, Municipal, Industrial, and Federal. They will be expected to coordinate and work closely with a multidiscipline design team throughout the entire life cycle of projects from planning stages, through the development of construction documents, and construction administration. They will be responsible for the development of drawings, specifications, and supporting engineering calculations, as well as the review of shop drawings during construction. Experience in the design of building related mechanical systems such as HVAC and controls and plumbing is required. They should be self-motivated with an initiative to deliver high quality, technically excellent mechanical designs.
Charlotte, North Carolina, is a city on the move, and we're proud to have been supporting the city's progress since 1961. Over more than 50 years, we've touched nearly every facet of the community - from the roads people drive on to the water they drink to how they power their homes. And just as the city continues to grow and change, so do the services we provide.
Today, nearly 250 employees in Charlotte are part of our team of almost 500 across North and South Carolina working to ensure that the region's infrastructure can support its growth trajectory for the next 50 years. With a mix of architects, engineers, environmental scientists, planners and more, we foster a collaborative environment focused on bringing the best of what we have to offer to each and every project. Projects like the New Hanover Regional Medical Center, Manchester Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant and GoTriangle Light Rail Transit, just to name a few.
Our projects are making a difference - and so too are our people. We take pride in knowing that the work we do will impact the community for years to come.
