Job Description

Builds sub-assemblies from piece parts. Builds new machines and rebuilds existing machines from sub-assemblies made from blueprints, verbal, and/or written instructions.

Essential Functions

  • Assembles machine parts at close tolerances from blueprint instructions
  • Ensures that all parts are available for sub-assembly by checking parts in boxes against bill of material
  • Works with Engineering Department to determine that blueprints and spec sheets are correct
  • Gathers hardware including nuts, bolts, and screws for assembly
  • Drills or saws parts when necessary
  • Assists in moving machinery using a chain hoist, electric lift truck, or hand dolly truck
  • Additional duties as assigned by supervisor
Job Requirements

Qualifications

  • Previous mechanical experience such as production mechanic, auto mechanic, machine shop experience, or hands-on machine shop classes
  • Must successfully complete one blueprint reading class and one shop math class
  • Must have ability to use precision measuring tools (Micrometer, Vernier)
  • Must be able to read and write English
  • Must have good communication skills
  • Must pass Company-administered Mechanical Test
