Senior Structural Engineer/Transit Facilities (141383)

The primary duties of the Senior Structural Engineer/Transit Stations include the review of structural documents for areas of conflict with all disciplines. Assist in leading a team of structural designers in technical designs and efficient solutions. Writes/edits structural specifications, selects procedures, materials and their respective sizes, and completes necessary calculations. Independently coordinates the work of the structural design team through the design development and contract document phases of a project. Establishes meetings and participates in reviews with various groups for code and agency compliance. Conducts design development and contract document work sessions at project site in conjunction with Project Manager and other disciplines. Is responsible to coordinate workload through design development and construction document phases to complete the documents on schedule. Coordinates and assists, with affected disciplines, with any addendum, requests for information, change proposal requests and change orders and is responsible to incorporate agreed upon changes into the project documents. Qualifications

Position requires a BS/MS in Structural engineering and a minimum of 10 years of experience as a structural engineer in design of underground and above ground transit stations. Other requirements include good oral and written communication skills. Ability to read and understand a Request for Proposal (RFP) and develop a technical approach and cost proposal. Will attend client meetings and must have the ability to present a design approach for technical discussion. The position would require the desire and ability to mentor junior staff and lead other technical staff in completion of design tasks. A working knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs and structural analysis software will be required, preferably RAM or LARSA. Professional Engineering license is required. Candidates who reside locally in the metro NY area are preferred. Preference will be given to Section 3 candidates.
